Alternatively, you can also try to align your brake caliper over the disc by
pulling the brake lever. The brake pistons make contact with the disc via
the brake pads and align the loosely screwed-on brake caliper in the cen-
ter above the brake disc. With the brake pulled, you should now tighten
the screws (1) again and make sure that the caliper does not move again.
Bear in mind the according torque when tightening the screws (1) (s. table
Tightening torque).
An incorrectly tightened brake caliper can lead to a total failure of
the brake system. A fall with bad consequences could be the
result. If you are unsure about the correct function or assembly of
your brake system, do not ride your Coboc e-bike anymore and have it
checked by a Coboc dealer.
Checking the brake pads
Brake pads are wear parts on your Coboc e-bike due to the frequency
in usage. This is why, you need to regularly check them for wear. Please
refrain from using anything but the original parts when exchanging the
friction components. Otherwise, braking function might be affected or da-
mage could occur. Only use fitting brake pads for your disc brake system,
in order to guarantee the desired braking effect.
Never get oil or grease on the brake pads, brake discs, or brake
flanks, as this leads to a decrease of the braking effect. Please
make sure to change the friction components, if this is the case.
Wear on disc brakes is usually only apparent when dismantling the brake
caliper. This way you can judge how much of the brake pad is left on the
support plate. The brake pads need to be exchanged if their thickness is
less than 0,5 mm. Because this is a safety-relevant component the exchan-
ge should take place in a specialist workshop.
Never touch a spinning brake disc. There is a high risk of injury by
getting your fingers caught. The brake disc and the caliper can
get very hot due to high frequency in usage. Only touch it if it has
cooled down. For further information please contact your local Coboc dea-
ler or the brake manufacturers website.
Maintainance & Care
Checking the rims
Check the condition of your rims regularly - especially at the beginning of
a season. Check both the inside (under the rim tape) and the outside of
the rim for possible material fatigue and wear, e.g. cracks, deformations,
flaking of materials etc.
Should your rim be deformed due to hard impacts, make sure to exchange
it immediately. Not doing so might lead to serious damage and even
danger because of high spoke tension and spoke tears.
Frame protection films
The accessory box comes with small protective films with which you can
protect your frame from abrasive brake lines on the seat tube if necessary.
It is important to make sure that the foils are replaced as soon as they
show signs of wear. If they are worn out, simply contact your Coboc dealer
so that he can renew them for you.
Adjust headset bearing
Check if the headset bearing has play. To do this, pull the front brake and
push your e-bike back and forth over the handlebars several times. The
steering should have no bearing play and yet the handlebars should turn
easily. If the steering has bearing play, loosen the two screws (1) again.
Carefully tighten screw (2) until the steering has no play. Then tighten the
two screws (1) again.
Do not overtighten screw (2). This could damage the headset bearing. If
the handlebars are difficult to turn, then screw (2) may be too tight. Loosen
the two screws (1), then loose the screw (2) a little and then tighten the two
screws (1) again.
