Mounting sites for smoke detectors are legally
regulated in the standard DIN EN 14676, which
applies in Germany.
1. Smoke detectors should be installed in all rooms,
hallways, storage areas, basements and storage
rooms to provide comprehensive protection. It
can be necessary to install more than one smoke
detector, especially if the hallway is longer than
15 m. Use of several smoke detectors is
recommended in rooms that are larger in area
than 60 m
2. Smoke detectors should be installed in all
bedrooms.
