Starting to use the scales
1 Insert 2 LR03 AAA 1.5V alkaline batter-
ies (not included) in the base of the scales.
2 Place the scales on a level surface.
3 Pull out the display and press the ON
button. The display 8888 will appear for a
moment. Wait until 0 or 0,0 appears before
placing items for weighing on the scales.
Selecting units of weight
(This can only be done when switching
on the scales.) Press the ON button. The
display shows 8888 and then 0 g. You can
now change the unit of weight (grams or
ounces) by pressing ON. The display shows
the unit selected. If the unit selected is lb/
oz, a line indicates fractions of an ounce at
different levels to the right of the digits: ¼
ounce if the line is at the bottom, ½ ounce if
the line is in the middle, ¾ ounce if the line
is at the top (see figure).
Taring (setting to zero) the scales
1 Place an empty bowl on the scales. The
scales indicate the weight of the bowl.
2 Tare (set to zero) by pressing the ON
button. The figure 0 will now appear in the
display window.
3 Place what you wish to weigh in the
bowl. The display now shows the weight of
the contents of the bowl only.

ton once more to tare the scales (reset to
zero).
Switching off the scales
The scales switch off automatically after
about 20 seconds if left empty. The scales
can also be switched off manually at any
time by pressing the ON button down for 3
seconds.
Good to know
— Wipe the scales clean with a damp
cloth.
— Weighs up to 3 kg.
— Change the battery when the display
indicates "LO".
