BRACE APPLICATION
Correct application is vital to the proper functioning of the device. While
seated and with your knee at an angle of 90°:
1. Unfasten all four straps from the lateral/outer side of the brace
(Figure 2).
2. Place the brace over the knee so that the hinge is located against the
side of the knee joint above the mid patella line (Figure 3).
3. Fit Strap #1 (directly below the knee) first as this strap is located
above the calf muscle and aids in the correct positioning of the brace
(Figure 4).
4. Fit remaining straps in numbered order (Figure 5).
ADJUSTMENT
Use any combination of the Condyle pads supplied to widen or narrow
the width of the brace at the knee (Figure 6). Control the strap length by
adjusting the medial/inside hook-and-loop strap end (Figure 7). The hinge
absorbs shocks and forces on the knee, with extension stops available for
5–10°, 10–20° and 20–30°. Match the letter on the extension stop insert
with the letter on the inside of the hinge for the correct fit (Figure 8).
Tibial wedge pads can be installed to fill in any gaps around the tibia
(Figure 9) and achieve the desired fit. To add a wedge pad, pull the lower
frame liner away from the brace frame and connect the wedge pad as
needed (medial, lateral or both) to the liner using the hook fastener. Fine
tune the wedge pad position until your brace fits snugly against the tibia.
LIGAMENT REPLACEMENT
To remove ligament for replacement (Figure 10):
a. First remove the bottom screw off the hinge using the provided tool.
b. Pull out the lower frame.
c. Slide down the hinge housing.
d. Remove upper screw to set the ligament free. Replace it.
To reassemble, just repeat the steps in opposite order (steps d-a).
HINGE FLEXION SET INSTALLATION
The Hinge flexion set (sold separately) is available for varying degrees of
flexion control. To install the Hinge flexion set (Figure 11):
a. First remove the bottom screw off the hinge using the provided tool.
b. Pull down the lower frame.
c. Slide down the hinge housing.
d. Select the required pair of Hinge flexion housing. The angle of the
housing is marked on the back. (Figure 11-d).
To reassemble, just repeat the steps in opposite order (steps c-a).
GUARD SET INSTALLATION
Guard sets (sold separately) are available to protect the knee against
impacts. To install the Guard set (Figure 12):
a. Remove the upper and lower frame liner from the brace.
b. Position the upper guard over the frame pin in the upper frame.
c. Pull down so it clips into place.
d. Repeat steps b & c with the lower guard.
e. Replace the upper and lower frame liner into the brace.
To replace the Guard set elastic cord (sold separately) or connect the
upper and lower panel of the guard set (Figure 13):
a. Install the Guard set elastic cord into the upper guard.
b. Push the elastic cord through the hole in the lower guard.
c. Pull the elastic cord through the hole and over the post on the side of
