IMPORTANT
" Screw in the plug by hand initially, then use the socket
wrench . The plug threads may be damaged by cross
threading if wrench is used from the beginning.
7.7 MOWER BLADE REPLACEMENT
A
CAUTION
(1) To avoid injury, always handle the mower blade
with care.
(2) Stop engine and wait until all moving parts have
stopped before servicing blade.
(3) Allow engine to cool and remove spark plug cap
before servicing blade.
IMPORTANT
(1) Close the fuel cock before tilting the machine.
(2) The blade mounting bolts have R .H. threads. Turn
them counterclockwise to loosen .
The blade cutting edges should be kept sharp at all
times (See Figure 1) . Sharpen the cutting edges, if they
resemble the blade in Figure A. Replace the blades if
they appear similar to the blade as shown in Figure B .

(1) Turn the machine sideways with the muffler side
upward .

To remove the blade, securely wedge a block of
wood between one blade and the housing, in such a
position that it will safely hold the blade while loose-
ning or tightening the blade mounting bolts .
NOTE
" Use the proper metric size box or socket wrench to
tighten or loosen the blade mounting bolt.
(3)
To
sharpen the blades yourself, clamp the blade
securely in a vise. Use a large mill file and along the
original bevel until sharp.
(4)
To
check the blade for balance, place a small rod
through the center hole. If the blade is not balanced,
file the heavy side of the blade until balance is achie-
ved.
(5)
To
mount the blade, install the blade washer, as
shown below, and tighten the two blade mounting
bolts to
5.0-6 .0
kgf m
(36.2-43.4 ft
lb).
(6) Replace the old blade, if required, with a KUBOTA
genuine blade.

CAUTION
" To avoid injury, when mounting the blade, make
sure the blade is installed right place on the blade
holder's bosses.
