Safety precautions
This symbol
"Danger" or "Warning" indicates the risk level deriving from failure to observe
the prescribed safety precautions:
DANGER
Warns that failure to observe the precautions
Risk of
involves a risk of electric shock.
electric shock
DANGER
Warns that failure to observe the precautions
involves a risk of damage to persons and/or
things.
WARNING
Warns that failure to observe the precautions
involves the risk of damaging the pump
and/or the plant.
1. GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
The purpose of the instructions we provide is to give information about
correct installation and optimum performance of the two pump models.
The pump with built-in electronic pressure regulator (TECNOPRES) is
made up of a check valve, indicator LEDs and reset button.
The pump with built-in electronic no-water protection device (TEC-
NOTEC) is made up of a check valve, indicator LEDs and an ON but-
ton.
Both have been developed to automate start-up and stoppage and to pre-
vent the pump running without water, and they require no air recharge.
As long as the water consumption exceeds 1.4 l/minute (4.31 US g.p.m.)
the pump will keep running.
The start-up pressure (TECNOPRES) is equal to 1.5 bar.
The pump will keep running as long as a tap is on.
When the taps are turned off, the pump stops.
CAUTION: Carefully following the installation and use instructions
and the electrical connection diagrams ensures good operation
of the pump.
HAZARD: Failure to heed the instructions in this manual can lead
to overloads in the electronic circuit, underperformance of the tech-
nical characteristics, reduced appliance life and consequences of
all kinds, in relation to which we decline all responsibility.
2. INSTALLATION
2.1 - Transportable pump
The pump foot lends it good stability, so that as long as it rests on flat
ground or a flat base is no need for additional securing. Ensure that the
weight of the pipes does not rest on the pump.
NOTE: the handle is designed for carrying the pump with the motor
switched off and the unit disconnected from the current supply.
2.2 - Suction pipe assembly
The suction pipe, if longer than 7 meters, must be of the same or
greater diameter than the pump inlet and installed in an upward incli-
nation to prevent trapped air pockets forming.
If the pump is required to perform a suction lift, to avoid unnecessary
losses of head on the discharge side, the pump should be installed as
close as possible to the water.
The end of the suction pipe must always remain at least 30 cm below the
water level.
2.3 - Discharge pipe assembly
It is recommended to use pipes with a diameter equal or greater than the
pump outlet. This will reduce loss of head caused by friction in longer
pipe runs.
Pipework must be supported and not rest on the pump.
together with one of the following words
If a foot valve has not been installed it is recommended to fit a check
valve to prevent accidental draining down of the system.
To ensure leaktightness of the discharge inlet, seal only with Teflon tape.
2.4 - Electrical connection
CONNECTING THE PUMP TO THE MAINS
The electrical installation must be fitted with a multiple separation
system with contact opening of ≥ 3 mm. System protection
should be based on a circuit-breaker switch (I
The electrical connection is made by connecting the pump's
socket directly to a duly protected household mains socket, in
accordance with the regulations in force in each country.
2.5 - Pre-start checks
Ensure the voltage and frequency of the supply correspond to the
values indicated on the electrical data label.
Ensure that the pump shaft is rotating freely.
Fill the pump body with water through the self priming plug open-
ing. If a foot valve has been installed, also fill the suction pipe.
Check all joints and connections for leaks.
THIS PUMP MUST NEVER BE DRY RUN.
3. START-UP
3.1 - Starting up the pump with pressure regulator (Tecnopres)
Connect the electricity supply. The current indicator LED (LINE+RUN) will
light up.
The unit starts automatically. While the pump is running the operating
light will remain lit up (RUN).
During this operation keep an outlet tap open in order to bleed any air
from the installation. Once the installation has been bled, close the tap
and the unit will then stop running in ~ – 10 seconds. Only the electrical cur-
rent indicator LED (LINE) will remain lit.
If the pump is not well primed at start-up, or if there is no water to sup-
ply to it, the pump will stop ten seconds later and the (FAULT) indicator
LED will light up.
To complete priming of the pump, press the (RESET) button.
If the motor does not work or does not extract water, try to trace the fault
from the list of the most common faults and the possible solutions for
them as set out in later pages.
3.2 - Starting up the pump with no-water protection device
(Tecnotec)
When the power switch is switched on the pump starts immediately. The
current indicator LED will light up (LINE+RUN).
During this operation keep an outlet tap open in order to bleed any air
from the installation. Once the installation has been bled, close the tap
and the unit will stop, leaving the (LINE) indicator LED lit up. If (ON) is
pressed the equipment will start to run unless it fails to detect water. If
the pump is not well primed at start-up, or if there is no water to supply
to it, the pump will stop running.
If the motor does not work or does not extract water, try to trace the fault
from the list of the most common faults and the possible solutions for
them as set out in later pages.
4. MAINTENANCE
Under normal conditions these pumps require no special or
planned maintenance.
If the pump is not to be operated for a long period it is recom-
mended to remove it from the installation, drain down and store
in a dry, well ventilated place.
ATTENTION: In the event of faults or damage occurring to the
pump, repairs should only be carried out by an authorised service
agent.
When the pump is eventually disposed of, please note that it
contains no toxic or polluting material. All main components are
material identified to allow selective disposal.
