Troubleshooting
Serial MIDI driver settings
The serial MIDI driver must be set appropriately for your computer and for the MIDI sound
module that is connected. If the sound module does not produce sound, use the following
procedure to make settings for the Roland serial MIDI driver.
Windows XP and 2000 users
1. In the Control Panel, double-click Sound and Audio
Devices.
(Sound and Multimedia in the case of Windows 2000.)
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. From the list of devices, choose Roland Serial MIDI
Driver, and click [Properties].
4. In the Roland Serial MIDI Driver Properties dialog box,
click the Properties tab.
5. In the list of multimedia devices, double-click MIDI
Devices and Instruments. Under that, select Roland
Serial MIDI Driver, and click [Properties].
6. In the Roland Serial MIDI Driver Properties dialog box,
click [Settings].
7. The Roland Serial MIDI Driver Settings dialog box will
appear.

Windows Me and Windows 98 users
1. In the Control Panel, double-click the Sound and
Multimedia icon.
(Multimedia in the case of Windows 98.)
2. Click the Device tab.
3. Double-click [MIDI Devices and Instruments]. Under
that, click [Roland Serial MIDI Out A].
4. In the lower right of the dialog box, click [Properties].
5. In the Roland Serial MIDI Out A Properties dialog box,
click [Settings].
6. The Roland Serial MIDI Driver Settings dialog box will
appear.
