To change the setting:
The magazine contains an adjustable nail platform on
which the nail coil rests. The nail platform can be adjusted
up and down to two nail settings. To change settings pull
up on the post and twist to the correct step. (Fig 3)
- 38, 45 mm. nails: use bottom setting
- 19, 22, 25, 32 mm. nails use top step.
3. Load the coil of nails: (Fig 4)
Place a coil of nails over the post in the canister. Uncoil
enough nails to reach the feeder pawl and place the
second nail between the teeth of the feeder pawl. The nail
heads fit in slot on the feeder pawl.
4. Close the door/magazine cover: Swing the door/
magazine cover closed. Check that latch engages. (if it
does not engage, check that the nail heads are in the slot
on the nose).
Note: Use only fasteners recommended by D
for use in D
WALT tools or nails which meet D
E
specifications.
LOCK-OUT MECHANISM
This tool is equipped with a Lock-Out mechanism, which
is activated when the magazine becomes empty. This
indicates to the operator that reloading is necessary. The
tool may not actuate when the Lock-Out is engaged, as
shown. (Fig 5)
SHINGLE GAUGE
This gauge can be used to control shingle spacing. To
adjust, push the gauge lever and slide the gauge to the
desired shingle exposure as shown. (Fig 6)
m Warning! Disconnect the air supply before making
adjustments.
CLEANING THE ROOFING NAILER
m Warning! Always disconnect the air before cleaning
the tool.
Tar and dirt may build up on the nose and safety yoke of the
tool preventing correct operation. Remove any buildup with
diesel or parafin. DO NOT dip the nailer into these solvents
beyond the height of the nail heads, to avoid getting the
solvent into the drive cylinder. Dry off the nailer before use
as any oil film left after cleaning may accelerate tar buildup
by softening the tar on roof shingles.
m Warning! Do not use petrol or similar highly flammable
liquids to clean the nailer. Vapour could be ignited by a
spark, causing an explosion.
FASTENER CONTROL ADJUSTMENT (Fig 7)
The DIAL-A-DEPTH™ Fastener Control adjustment feature
provides close control of the fastener drive depth; from flush
with the work surface to shallow or deep countersink.
First, set the air pressure for consistent drive in the specific
work, then use the DIAL-A-DEPTH™ Fastener Control
adjustment to give the desired depth of drive.
DRIVER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS (Fig 8)
Worn driver causing poor quality or loss of power
l Wear on the driving tip will affect the nail drive, giving
symptoms of bent and incompletely driven nails, and
damaged nail heads.
l The driver length may be adjusted to allow the driving
tip to be redressed to compensate for wear. Heat and
precise measurement are required. Contact a qualified
service technician for this adjustment.
WALT
E
l The length setting for a new driver is shown in the
WALT
E
Technical Data Table, column T. Measurement is from
the top face of the piston.
l Note that the measurement U (see Technical Data
Table) from the top of the piston gives the maximum
amount the driver may be adjusted to allow
re-dressing. Always extend the driver the minimum
amount required to allow re-dressing to restore the
driving end; several re-dressings will be possible before
this maximum depth is reached.
UTILITY HOOK
These tools may include an additional utility hook suitable
for storage and temporary hanging of the tool.
m WARNING! Never use the utility hook to hang the tool
from the body, clothing or belt.
m WARNING! Never use the utility hook with contact
(black) trigger operated tools.
