7 Maintenance

7.1 General hints
The operator is responsible for ensuring that inspection and assembly are carried out
by authorised and qualified personnel who have studied the operating instructions
closely.
By drawing up a maintenance plan, costly repairs can be avoided with a minimum of
maintenance expense and a fault-free pump operation can be obtained.
The Wilo Service is available for initial start-up and maintenance work.
7.2 Routine mainenance
In principle all seals removed during maintenance work should be replaced.
7.3 Mechanical seal
The mechanical seal does not require any special maintenance. Slight may occur during
the running-in period. Visual leakage checks are however required from time to time.
Distinctly visible leakage will require an exchange of the seal. WILO offers a repair set
containing all parts required for an exchange
7.3.1 Unmounting of the mechanical seal
Switch off power supply and secure against unauthorized switching.
Close isolating valves at both pump ports
Lower the pressure of the pump by opening the air vent plugs (fig. 6, pos. 2).
Remove protection caps (fig. 6, pos. 1) of the coupling.
Turn the coupling/shaft so that the locking screws (4 hexagon-socket screws,
fig. 7 pos. 1) are visible in the lid drilling.
Unscrew each locking screw until it reaches the middle of the lid drilling (fig. 7).
Unscrew and remove the 4 lid screws (fig. 8).
Take two of the lid screws and screw them completely into the two forcing threads
in the lid (fig. 8, 9).
Unscrew one of the coupling screws (fig. 10, pos. 1) and screw it into one of the
mounting holes of a coupling half (fig. 10, pos. 2).
This screw fixes the holding washer (fig. 10, pos. 3) of the impeller-shaft to the
coupling half.
Unscrew the remaining coupling screws and take off the loose coupling half.
If necessary use the
Loosen the centre screw (fig. 11, pos. 2) of the motor shaft carefully to lower the
impeller/impeller-shaft (fig. 11, pos. 3). When the impeller is in the lowest position
(after ca. 3 mm) remove the centre screw and the motor-shaft washer (fig. 11,
pos. 1 and fig. 12).
Remove the coupling screw from the mounting thread and take off the second
coupling half (fig. 13).
Installation and operating instructions
Wilo-CronoLine IL 250...
Before carrying out any maintenance work, switch off the pump and
ensure that it cannot be switched on again by unauthorised people.
Never carry out work on a running pump.
Depending on the operating condition of the pump and/or installation
(fluid temperature) the entire pump can become very hot.
Avoid touching the pump owing to the risk of burning.!
In the event of hot liquids, Beware of scalding!
