Changing the batteries

The smoke detector will issue a low battery warning in good time
when the batteries are reaching the end of their life.
It emits a short audible alarm that repeats every 48 seconds,
and the red LED in the test button flashes three times every 48
seconds. If this happens you should replace the batteries as soon
as possible.
To insert the batteries, proceed as follows:
Step 1:
Twist the smoke detector anti-clockwise to remove it
from the mounting plate.
Step 2:
Take the dead batteries out of the battery compart-
ments.
Step 3:
Insert three new LR6 (Mignon/AA) batteries with the
correct polarity in the battery compartments (check
the polarity markings on the batteries and battery com-
partments) (see (H) in the illustration on page 48).
Always use new batteries of the same type (LR6/Mignon,
type AA) and make sure that they are inserted with the
correct polarity.
1.2-V rechargeable batteries are not permitted.
