1.1 Preface
WiththepurchaseoftheMotusadaptivewheelchair,youhaveselectedaqualityproductforversatile
useduringeverydaylife,bothindoorsandoutdoors.Beforeusingyourwheelchair,itisessential
toreadthesections"Delivery/PreparingtheWheelchairforUse"and"SafetyInstructions".
Thechapter"Options"presentsvariousadditionalcomponentsoftheMotus,whichcanexpand
itsfieldofapplicationandimprovecomfortforthewheelchairuser.Thechapter"Adjustment/
AssemblyInformation"providesanoverviewofthewaysthewheelchaircanbecustomizedto
yourrequirements.ThemodelasdescribedintheseInstructionsforUseissubjecttotechnical
changeswithoutnotice.
1.2 Intended Use
TheMotusadaptivewheelchairisdesignedsolelyforindividualindoorandoutdoorusebyper-
sonswhoareunabletowalkorwhohaveawalkingimpediment,andcanbeoperatedbythe
patientorbyanotherperson.
TheMotusadaptivewheelchairmayonlybecombinedwiththeoptionsmentionedintheseIn-
structionsforUseandviceversa.Ottobockassumesnoliabilityforcombinationswithmedical
productsand/oraccessoriesfromothermanufacturersoutsideofthemodularsystem.
1.3 Field of Application
TheMotus CV featuresadvancedfunctions.Thankstoitsframegeometry,itenablesprecise
legguidance.Thefootrestscanbeswungawayandremoved.
Thankstoitsclosed,stiffframegeometry,particularactivedrivingispossiblewiththeMotus CS.
Thefootrestremainsonthewheelchair(seeChapter5.11).
Theversatilityofthispowerwheelchairanditsmodulardesignmakeitsuitableforpatientswho
havewalkingimpedimentsorwalkinginabilitiesdueto:
• Palsies/paralysis(paraplegia,tetraplegia)
• Lossoflimbs(lowerlimbamputation)
• Defectiveordeformedlimbs
• Jointcontracturesordefects
• Muscleandnervedisorders
• Diseasessuchascardiacorcirculatoryinsufficiency,balancedisordersorcachexiaaswell
asforgeriatricpatientswhostillhaveusableresidualstrengthintheupperlimbs.
