10 Maintenance and Installation

Maintenance and service work on the flame detector FMX5000 UV.ESSER must be performed
according to national regulations and standards at regular intervals, depending on operating
conditions and environmental influences.
The detector requires no maintenance. Opening the flame detector is not permitted!
To monitor an area with the minimum possible downtime, a spare detector of the same type
should be kept on hand. This applies in particular if significant costs are expected to result from
the failure of this detector. Such a case may apply if operation of a production plant is not
possible without the protection of this detector.
Danger from high voltage
In operational condition, some components of the detector carry a high electrical
voltage. Disconnect the detector from its power source before opening the housing
of the detector!

10.1 Maintenance Intervals

The maintenance intervals must be reduced as necessary according to the ambient conditions.
This applies, for example, in cases of high ambient temperatures, for use in areas with
aggressive media or if dirt and contamination are expected in consideration of operating
conditions.
If the inspection and maintenance intervals as well as service work are not covered by national
or local regulations, the following time intervals apply:
At least 4 x per year
At least 1 x year
Before working on the fire alarm system, the affected persons and any assisting
agencies (e.g. fire department) must be informed of the service work.
The flame detector must be replaced after no more than 10 years. Depending on
the ambient conditions and applicable regulations, this time may be reduced
significantly!
