– To remove the application tool, use the two-pin spanner
18 to loosen the clamping nut 17 or an open-end spanner
to loosen the backing pad 39 and unscrew the application
tool from the sander spindle 14. Pull the application tool
off the sander spindle.
Mounting the Backing Pad for Fibre Sanding Discs
Actuate the spindle lock button only when the sander
spindle is at a standstill. Otherwise, the machine may be-
come damaged.
You need to mount special backing pads to sand with fibre
sanding discs.
– Clean the sander spindle 14 and all parts to be mounted.
– To clamp and loosen the application tool, lock the sander
spindle with the spindle lock button 3.
– Screw the backing pad 41 onto the sander spindle 14 until
the backing pad is firmly against the sander spindle flange
at the end of the sander spindle thread.
– Centre the fibre sanding disc 42 on the backing pad 41 and
tighten it with the round nut 43. Tighten the round nut 43
with the two-pin spanner 18.
Changing the Brush Segments (see figure B)
The individual brush segments 44 of the wire brush 33 can be
replaced when worn.
– Always replace the complete set of brush segments 44,
otherwise imbalance can generate vibration and shorten
the lifetime of the application tool.
You can also equip the wire brush 33 with a mixture of mate-
rials (e.g. half plastic, half brass). When doing so, it is impor-
tant that the brush segments 44 are distributed evenly and al-
ternately.
Work only with a completely equipped wire brush 33.
– Insert the narrow end of the hook wrench 19 into the inner
recess of the wire brush 33 and push the brush segment
44 outwards.
– Slide the new brush segment 44 correctly into the slot of
the wire brush 33 until you hear it engage.
Dust Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered car-
cinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment
additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials con-
taining asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Always use dust extraction.
Operate the power tool either with the dust container
24 or with a dust class M vacuum cleaner.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the
materials to be worked.
Only use vacuum hoses as intended for by Bosch. Do not
manipulate the vacuum hose. When rocks or chunks of
1 609 92A 1LR | (9.9.16)
stone/masonry are drawn into the vacuum hose, cease
work and clean the vacuum hose immediately. Prevent the
vacuum hose from being bent or creased.
Mounting the Vacuum Hose (see figures C1–C2)
Recommendation: Perform dust extraction using the sup-
plied vacuum hose 20 or a static vacuum hose (accessory).
– Insert the vacuum hose 20 into the vacuum connection 8
until both snap-fasteners 21 of the vacuum hose engage.
– To disassemble, turn the vacuum hose 20 and the vacuum
connection 8 against each other slightly and then pull the
components apart.
Integrated Dust Extraction (see figures D1 – D2)
The fan wheel 13 built into the handpiece 1 sucks the re-
moved material into the dust container 24.
– Insert the vacuum hose 20 into the hose connection piece
28 of the dust container 24 until both snap-fasteners of
the vacuum hose engage.
The filling level of the dust container 24 can easily be checked
due to the transparent container.
Note: In order to ensure optimum dust extraction, empty the
dust container 24 in good time and clean the filter element 31
regularly (see "Cleaning the Dust Container and Filter Ele-
ment", page 31).
– To disassemble, turn the vacuum hose 20 slightly in the
hose connection piece 28 and then pull the vacuum hose
off.
External Dust Extraction (see figure E)
You can use the supplied extraction adapter 23 to connect
other brands of dust class M vacuum cleaner (e.g. Bosch, Fes-
tool, Flex or Kärcher) to the vacuum hose 20.
– Insert the vacuum hose 20 into the vacuum connection 8
until both snap-fasteners 21 of the vacuum hose engage.
– Connect the extraction adapter 23 to the vacuum hose of a
suitable vacuum cleaner. To secure the connection, tight-
en the Velcro strap 22.
Please observe the following notes in order to reduce the dust
emissions occurring while working.
– Use only Bosch-recommended combinations of applica-
tion tool, handpiece with mounted guard and extraction
hood, and dust class M vacuum cleaner. Other combina-
tions may lead to worse collection and separation of dust.
– Observe the operating instructions of the vacuum cleaner
for maintenance and cleaning of the vacuum cleaner, in-
cluding the filter. Empty dust collection containers imme-
diately once full. Clean the filters of the vacuum cleaner
regularly and always insert the filters completely into the
vacuum cleaner.
– Use the handpiece only in accordance with its intended
use.
– Observe the general requirements for construction sites.
– Ensure that the work area is clear. When working for ex-
tended periods of time, the vacuum cleaner must be able
to move along freely or at the right time.
– Use a suitable vacuum cleaner for cleaning the workplace.
Prevent settled dust from being swirled up by sweeping.
