1. Make sure that all connections between the gas hose, the gas pressure regulator and the gas cylinder are proper-
ly tightened.
2. Open the grill lid. CAUTION: never light the grill with the lid closed.
3. Turn on the gas supply at the gas cylinder.
4. Press in the control knob for the small burner (left) and turn it anti-clockwise to MAX. Press the red igniter button
and hold it pressed in until the spark jumps across and the burner lights.
5. If the burner does not light within 3 seconds, turn the control knob back to " • ". Wait for 3 minutes to allow the
unburned gas to disperse. Then repeat the procedure.
6. If the burner fails to light after 3 attempts, investigate the cause as described in the section Troubleshooting.

Turning off the burners

• Press in the control knob for the burner concerned and turn it clockwise to " • ".
Turn off the gas supply at the cylinder.

Before barbecueing for the first time

1. Clean all parts that come into contact with food.
2. Check all gas-carrying components as described in the section "Gas-tightness test".
3. Light the burner and allow the grill to heat through for approx. 30 minutes at the highest setting, i.e. MAX (large
burner).

Easy steps to becoming a barbecue expert

Read the recipe and follow the specific instructions on the following pages.
Before use, check the catcher tray for accumulated fat. Remove excessive amounts of fat in order to prevent the fat
catching fire in the removable catcher tray.
If necessary, use the cover to distribute the heat evenly throughout the grill, e.g. when cooking roast chicken.
Preheat the grill for approx. 15 minutes on the MAX setting (large burner) with the lid closed.
Always put out the burner after barbecueing. Turn off the gas supply at the cylinder.
Always allow the grill to cool down completely and do not clean it until it is completely cool.
• Do not try to save time by placing food on the barbecue too soon before it has reached the right temperature.
• Use a barbecue spatula or barbecue tongs, but not a fork. Piercing with a fork will allow juices, and therefore flavour,
to escape and the food will dry out.
• Make sure that the food fits on the barbecue before closing the lid. Ideally, there should be a gap of about 2 cm
between the individual items being barbecued.
• Do not repeatedly open the lid to check on the food. Every time the lid is lifted, heat is lost, i.e. the food will take
longer to be ready to be served.
• Only turn the food over once if required by the recipe.
• Closing the grill lid shortens the cooking time and produces better cooking results.
• Items such as burgers should not be pressed down flat. Doing so will squeeze out the meat juices and the food will
dry out.
• If you apply a light coating of oil to your food, it will brown more evenly and will not stick to the grate. Brush or
spray the oil on the food only and not on the grate.
Wash your hands and the implements thoroughly with hot water and washing-up liquid before and after
handling fresh meat, fish or poultry. Alternatively, you can wear disposable gloves.
Never place cooked food on the same plate on which raw food has been.
Do not defrost food for barbecueing at room temperature, but rather in a refrigerator.
