Setting up / Adjusting
3.1
Mains connection
The Biscuit Jointer LNF 20 has Class II protective
insulation (double-insulated).
Before starting up, make sure that the mains voltage
matches the voltage stated on the rating plate.
3.2
Chip extraction
When cutting wood for a long period and when using
the machine industrially with materials that generate
dust which represents a health hazard, the machine
must be connected to a suitable dust extractor unit.
Engage hose connector 75 in support 8 (remove
ejection pipe 74).
Dust bag 76 can also be fitted to the hose connector.
In Germany, extractors tested for the
extraction of wood dust are specified.
Safe compliance with air pollution limits
(2 mg/m
) is ensured only if the machine
3
is connected to a tested extractor unit
(such as an industrial vacuum cleaner or
a combination unit).
3.3
Setting cutting depth
The cutting depth can be set with setting wheel 38
according to the biscuit used.
3.4
Setting grooving position
• Loosen wing nut 21.
• Set tiltable stop 20 according to the scale on the
column guide and tighten wing nut.
The revolving depth stop 14 has been set in the fac-
tory for board thicknesses of 10, 19 and 25 mm (3/8,
3/4 and 1 in.). The exact grooving position has to be
determined by experiment in case of settings
between 0° and 90°.
The cutter guard stop 77 has to be engaged exept in
0° position (for inside wall joints).
3.5
Swivel setting
• Loosen wing nut 22.
• Adjust tiltable stop 20 according to the scale and
tighten wing nut.
3.6
Marking of groove distances
Groove distances are generally between 10 and
15 cm (3 15/16 - 5 7/8 in.). The center of the first
groove should be 4 to 6 cm (1 9/16 - 2 3/8 in.) from
the outer edge of the workpiece. On narrow work-
pieces, the grooves can be cut using the markings
on the support, the tilting stop or the base plate.
3.7
Change of cutter
Always pull out the mains plug
before changing the cutter.
• Loosen flat-head screws 1 of base plate 2 and
remove them from support 8.
• Hold tool carrier 41 in position by means of push-
button 50.
• Loosen flange nut 3 by means of the face pin
spanner.
• Replace cutter 4.
• Locate the new cutter on flange 5 and tighten by
means of flange nut 3.
Note the direction of rotation of the cut-
ter.
• Fasten base plate 2 by means of flat-head
screws 1.
• Check cutting depth and if required readjust.
3.8
Adjusting cutting depth
• Set setting wheel 38 to „Max.".
• Push the part of the machine which is connected
to the motor forward as far at it will go.
• Turn the cutter so that a tooth indicates the fore-
most point on the circumference.
The max. cutting depth can be set to 19 mm (3/4 in.)
by means of depth stop 6.
• Loosen nut 7 and turn the depth stop (1 turn =
0.7 mm (1/32 in.)).
• Retighten wing nut.
