Intended Use

The radio wristwatch is used to read off the exact time. After receiving a valid time signal, it will
always display the correct time.
This product is spray water-proof. Nonetheless, it must be prevented from coming into contact
with water. The watch is intended for general daily use and must not be used under conditions
in which water pressure and temperature severely fl uctuate.
Any use other than that described above will damage the product and can pose other hazards.
No part of this product may be modifi ed or rebuilt. The safety instructions must be observed
at all times.

The guarantee/warranty will be void if damage occurs due to failing to com-
ply with the Operating Instructions! We will not assume any responsibility
for consequential damage!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. In such cases
the warranty/guarantee is void.
• The product must not be modifi ed or rebuilt, as this will invalidate both the CE
approval and the warranty/guarantee.
• The radio watch must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight,
intense vibration or heavy mechanical stress.
• This product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• Never let the packaging material lie around unattended. Plastic foil / bags etc.
can become a dangerous toy for children. There is a risk of suffocation.
• Do not allow the watch to get wet.
• Make sure that there are no magnetic or electromagnetic sources or heat sourc-
es in the vicinity of the product.
• Maintenance, adjustments and repairs may only be carried out by a qualifi ed
specialist or a specialised repair shop.
• In case you have questions which are not answered in these Operating Instruc-
tions, please contact our technical service or other specialists.
Battery Information
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Please observe the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the bat-
tery.
• Do not leave the battery lying around in the open; there is the risk of it being
swallowed by children or pets.
• If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries may cause caustic burns if they come into con-
tact with skin. Therefore, you should use suitable protective gloves.
• Do not short-circuit or dismantle batteries/rechargeable batteries and do not
throw them into fi re. There is a danger of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a danger of explosion! Only charge
rechargeable batteries intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• If the product is not to be used for a prolonged period (e.g. in case of storage),
remove the inserted battery. If batteries are too old, they may leak and damage
the product and this will invalidate the guarantee/warranty!
• Please read the chapter "Disposal" to ensure that the batteries and recharge-
able batteries are disposed of without damaging the environment.

What is DCF?

The DCF signal is a coded radio signal that contains the time
information of the caesium atomic clock of the Physikalisch-
Technischen Anstalt (Federal Physical Technical Agency) in
Version 07/12
Braunschweig.
This atomic clock is so accurate that in theory, a deviation from
the actual time of +/- 1 second is possible only in a million
years. This is a signal which is sent by a transmitter in Main-
fl ingen (near Frankfurt on the Main).
The DCF signal includes the precise time and the date. There-
fore, there is no need to set the time manually (e.g. changing
the time from standard time to daylight saving time).
They have a range of up to 1,500 km and if transmission conditions are ideal, as high as up to
2,000 km. Watches equipped with a DCF receiver (radio clocks) can receive and decode the
DCF signal within this transmitting range. Similar to radio reception, the receiving of a DCF
signal is highly dependent on location, position and interference signals, e.g. from computers,
television sets or microwave ovens. Another reasons for poor reception can be reinforced con-
crete walls that weaken the DCF signal.
This product can also receive radio signals in other countries. In addition to the DCF in Ger-
many, the watch can also receive the MSF signal in Britain, WWVB signals in the USA and the
JJY signal in Japan. The particular signal received by the watch depends on the set time zone.
Commissioning
Sleep mode
The product may be delivered in the so-called sleep mode. All hands are still. The time is
continually updated inside.
Proceed as follows to deactivate sleep mode:
• Pull out the crown "S2" slightly until you hear a quiet "click".
• Push the crown "S2" back in until you hear a quiet click. The watch hands will rotate quickly
until the actual time is reached.
• Wait until the watch is running at normal speed.
If you do not use the watch for a prolonged period (e.g. a week or more), you can set it to sleep
mode in order to save the battery. Do this by carefully pulling the crown "S2" until you hear a
quiet "click". All hands will stop.

Receiving the radio signal
• After buying your watch, leave it near a window for 24 to 48 hours to optimise receipt of the
radio signal.
• Place the watch fl at and face up on an even, non-metallic surface.
• Place a non-metallic material such as a small cloth or a small roll of paper between the case
back and the metal wristband.

If you want to synchronise the time directly with the radio signal, activate the search manually:
• Keep the key "S1" button depressed for approx. six seconds until the seconds counter stops.
• The clock will try to receive the radio signal. Once the clock has received the radio signal
correctly, the seconds counter will rotate, fi rst quickly and then normally again. The current
time is displayed.
Even if a radio signal is still not received after approx. 20 minutes, the watch will continue to
run normally.

Check whether a radio signal has been received
Press the "S1" button briefl y. The seconds hand rotates more quickly. The position at which the
seconds hand stops tells you whether the radio signal has been received correctly:
• Seconds hand at 12:00 hrs: radio signal received correctly.
S1
• Seconds hand at 06:00 hrs: radio signal not received correctly.
S2
After a short time (approx. 30 seconds), the seconds hand will rotate normally again.

AM / PM display
Briefl y press the "S3" key. The seconds hand rotates more quickly. The position at which the
seconds hand stops tells you whether the current time is AM (Ante Meridiem/before 12:00 hrs)
or PM (Post Meridiem/after 12:00 hrs):
Seconds hand at 09:00 hrs: the current time is AM.
Seconds hand at 03:00 hrs: the current time is PM.
Do not press any button while the second hand is rotating quickly or not rotating at
all.
The clock will regularly attempt to receive a radio signal at approx. 03:00 hrs (night
time) and to synchronise the time. Even if no radio signal is received at these times,
the watch will continue to run normally.
In addition to the DCF in Germany, the watch can also receive the MSF signal in
Britain, WWVB signals in the USA and the JJY signal in Japan. The particular signal
received by the watch depends on the set time zone. If you are travelling into a differ-
ent time zone, set the time zone concerned (see the "Time zones" section).
Do not press any button while the second hand is rotating quickly or not rotating at
all.
