Cleaning
Clean the appliance with a clean cloth, possibly dipped in
soap water after using the appliance.
Do not use cleaning agents and solvents as they may
damage the plastic parts of the appliance.
Winterising
Clean the appliance properly.
Keep the appliance in a dry room.
Provide overall servicing as described in the
Servicing section.
Drain fuel from the tank.
Start the appliance after the fuel is drained.
Let the appliance run idle until it stops. This will
remove remaining fuel from the carburettor.
Let the appliance cool down.
Remove the spark plug (pic. O).
Add a teaspoon of engine oil for 2-stroke to the
combustion chamber. Pull carefully the starter cable
several times so that the internal appliance parts are
dipped in oil. Refit the spark plug.
Before storing the appliance for a long time, drain the
oil tank to prevent oil leak.
Keep the appliance in a cold and dry place out of any
ignition sources and flammable materials.
Fit the saw chain cover on the cutting edge.
Putting the appliance into operation again
Remove the spark plug (pic. O). Pull the starter cable
several times to remove oil remains from the combustion
chamber. Clean the spark plug contacts and fit a new one.
Fill the fuel and oil tank (if necessary) (pic. V+W). See the
Fuel and oil and Operation sections.
Start the engine as specified in the "Cold engine starting"
section.
Air filter servicing (pic. P)
An air filter that is dirty reduces the engine output, which is
caused by too low supply of air to the carburettor.
Regular checks are therefore necessary. The air filter
should be checked every 25 hours of operation and
cleaned if necessary. If the filter is too dusty, it should be
checked more often.
1.
Remove the air filter cap
2.
Remove the filter element.
3.
Clean the filter element by tapping or blowing out.
4.
Air filter is assembled in the reverse order.
Never clean the air filter with petrol and flammable
solutions.
Spark plug (pic. O) servicing
Socket plug = 0.6 mm
Spark plug torque: 12 - 15 Nm.
Check the spark plug after 10 hours of operation for any
dirt and clean it using a copper wire brush if necessary.
The spark plug should then be serviced every 50 hours of
operation.
1.
Remove the spark plug by twisting.
2.
Disassemble the spark plug by the spark plug
wrench.
3.
Assembly takes place in the reverse order.
Saw head (pic. R-S) servicing
Removal of rail and saw chains (pic. U)
Servicing to take place only when the engine is
switched off.
Loosen the chain rail nut (pic. R/1).
Now the chain and rail can be removed and sharpened or
replaced.
Clean the rail run with sawdust from time to time.
Provide the right chain rotation direction when
fitting the saw chains.
Contact a professional if necessary.
Chain rail servicing
Check the rail at all times for any damage. The rail may
get worn irregularly as a result of wrong use or
unprofessional sharpening of the chain.
Never work with a rail that is bent, split or significantly
worn out.
Replace the chain rail with a new one if damaged
severally.
Contact a professional if necessary.
Saw chain servicing
Make always sure the chain is sharp.
At regular intervals, file the saw chain either with a hand
file or saw chain sharpeners or let the chain sharpened by
a professional.
If the chain is worn to a significant extent, it must be
replaced with a new chain. Contact a professional if
necessary.
Chain tension (pic. Q) adjustment
Make always sure the belt is stretched properly. A
chain that is loose increases the risk of backlash. A loose
chain could get off the rail track. This could injure the
operator and damage the chain. A loose chain is a cause
of rapid wear of the chain, rail and chain wheel.
Before adjusting the chain, make sure the chain rail
nut (pic. Q) is tightened by hand only.
Turn the adjusting screw in the clockwise direction
until the chain fits tightly but can easily be moved.
The chain should fit tightly and evenly at each
spot of the rail; it must not be too stretched or
clenched.
By turning the adjusting screw counter clockwise the
chain gets loosened (a); by turning it clockwise the
chain gets stretched (b) (pic. Q).
Tighten the chain rail nut (pic. 18/B) after adjusting
the chain tension as required.
Notice: A new chain stretches out. Check the new chain
after a few minutes of operation. Let the chain cool down
and readjust the tension as required.
