SAFETY NOTES
Always disconnect the drilling machine form power mains when attaching the drill bit
sharpener. Read the safety notes of the drilling machine manufacturer. Make sure the
sharpener does not contact the drill chuck.
USE
1.
Disconnect the drilling machine from power mains. Close the drill chuck completely.

Fig. 2: Slide the guide rod (1) over the drill chuck. Tighten the rear wing screw (3)
hand tight. Make sure the guide rod is locked on the drill chuck taper, not on the drill
chuck. Slide the aligning pin of the sharpener into the notch of the guide rod and fix
the sharpener and the guide rod with the front wing screw (5).

The drill bit sharpener is ready for use.
Once you have attached the sharpener onto the drilling machine for the first time, you
only have to unscrew the rear wing screw (3) to detach the guide rod from the drill
chuck taper.

Connect the drilling machine with power mains and set it to its highest speed. Make
sure the drilling machine sits on a steady surface. Hold the drilling machine tight and
switch it on.

Insert the drill bit to be sharpened into the smallest fitting hole of the head plate (6) as
far as it will go. Twist the drill bit until the tip contacts the grinding disc. Rotate the drill
bit back and forth between the right-hand stop and the left-hand stop for several times,
in order to grind the cutting edge. Check the grinding result.

Fig. 3: Turn the drill bit through 180° and grind the other edge in the same way. The
cut has to be symmetrical and the grinded face has to be clean and shiny. Should this
not be the case, repeat the grinding.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Fig. 1: The device is basically maintenance-free. You only have to oil from time to time
the spindle (7) with one or two drops of light machine oil such as sewing machine oil.
If the inserted drill bit does not contact the grinding disc, you have to change or adjust
the grinding disc.
For adjusting: Tight the drive shaft (8) and turn the plastic slot screw (9) on the top of
the sharpener counter clockwise, in order to near the disc to the bit. If you turn the
screw clockwise, the grinding disc moves away from the drill bit.
For Changing: Unscrew both Philips screws (10) on the top of the device and take out
the head plate (6). Remove the grinding disc (4) and insert a new one.
Clean the device with a soft cloth or a brush. Do not immerse it in water or other
liquids.
