14. Troubleshooting

No display
Power supply unit was not connected or mains plug is not plug-
ged in.
No display, only DCF LED is lit.
The appliance is in the process of being synchronised, the display
will automatically be restored after a brief synchronisation peri-
od.
Display shows random characters.
The battery is flat or nearly flat; replace it with a new battery.
The proper sequence - first fit the battery and then plug in the
power supply unit - was not observed. Unplug the mains plug of
the power supply unit from the socket outlet, remove the bat-
tery from the battery compartment, wait roughly 1 minute, fit
the battery as described under heading 7.1 and then plug in the
power supply unit as described under heading 7.2.
Radio alarm clock can not be synchronised.
Reception is not good enough; alter the reception position (it is
often sufficient to just move or turn the appliance slightly).
Switch off any equipment that produces interference such as TVs,
computers or microwave ovens.
Place the clock near a window for synchronisation and make
sure the front or back of the clock is facing in the direction of
Frankfurt.
Leave the clock running overnight in order to reduce atmos-
pheric interference.
