SAFETY INFORMATION

The equipment, installation and operation of hydraulic
accumulators are subject to different regulations in different
countries.
In the Federal Republic of Germany, for example, they are
regulated by the "Industrial Safety Regulation" (BetrSichV) or
EN 14359. These require the following minimum equipment:
– Shut-off device,
– Device which protects against excessive pressure(must be
type-tested, either using a prototype or through individual
expert assessment),
– Pressure release device between the hydraulic
accumulator and the shut-off device,
– Pressure measurement device marked with the maximum
permitted operating pressure,
– Connection point for a test pressure gauge.
EN
The following can also be fitted:
– Safety device for excess temperature,
– Solenoid-operated unloading valve.
DANGER
All work on HYDAC bladder accumulators must only be
carried out by suitably trained staff.
Incorrect handling can lead to serious accidents. The
relevant protective measures must be taken (e.g.
aggressive operating media).
Gases under pressure.
After discharging and/or completely draining the hydraulic
accumulator (e.g. to depressurise the hydraulic system
before work is carried out), the accumulator can build up an
amount of pressure again if the lines are later shut off on the
fluid side.
All the fluid-side lines connected to the hydraulic
accumulator must therefore be depressurised and after that
the lines must remain open.
Only then may the accumulator be removed from the
hydraulic system.
Before working on the hydraulic accumulator itself, the gas
side of the hydraulic accumulator must be depressurised
and remain open. Ensure that the gas side is depressurised.
Only then may work be carried out on the hydraulic
accumulator itself (e.g. the disassembly).
When disassembling or assembling the hydraulic
accumulator ensure that it is adequately secured across the
cylindrical part of the accumulator only. Damage must be
avoided.
Any hydraulic fluid that may leak out must be collected.
Pressure tests (e.g. for repeat tests) must not be carried out
using the separating element (bladder).
Appropriate plugs can be obtained from HYDAC.
The media compatibility of the plugs used must be checked.
14
No welding, soldering or mechanical work may be carried out
on the bladder accumulator.
Hydraulic accumulators must only be charged
with nitrogen. Never use oxygen or air -
Risk of explosion!
Danger of bursting and loss of operating
permission if machining and/or welding/soldering
operations are carried out!
WARNING
The accumulator shell can become hot, risk of burns.

When used simultaneously in zones 0 and 1, the metal
measurement membrane of the pressure transmitters
functions as an "isolating wall" between zone 0 and 1. The
thickness of this "isolating wall" is generally ≤ 1 mm. In order
to ensure this isolating function, it is imperative that the
measurement fluid is compatible with the materials used in
the pressure transmitter; similarly, the overload pressures
and bursting pressures must be adhered to without fail (see
above-mentioned operating instructions HE).
Please ensure sufficient sealing between the zones.
When used in atmospheres containing combustible dusts,
the BIS 1000 must be installed in such a way that it is
protected from damage and knocks. The data pertaining to
use in a hazardous location is to be heeded in any event.
For adherence to safety guidelines, impact protection/
protective metal case must be used for the protection types
and applications for devices with M12x1 connector:

T500T90°C Da, II 2D Ex tb III C T80°C Db
– IECEx: Ex nA IIC T6 Gc / Ex ta IIIC T80°C T500T90°C
