new parts to the shape and size of
the original parts.
Finding the Master Cutter
Use a slide caliper to find the

shortest cutter and mark it, e.g. with
chalk.
This is the master cutter for filing all the
other cutters to the same length.

Clamping the Guide Bar
Clamp the guide bar in a bench vise

or, at the cutting site, the STIHL bar
vise (special accessory) to suit the
position of the master cutter.

Clamp the guide bar in the vise with

its nose pointing to the left.
Master cutter in left-hand row
Clamp the guide bar in the vise with
N
its nose pointing to the right.
Mounting the Filing Tool on
the Guide Bar

Position the filing tool on the guide

bar so that the clamping jaws (1)
point towards the bar nose and are
in line with top edge of the rivet
heads.
Tighten down the wing screw (2).
