The battery box of Type 8316 is used as a back-up power supply unit in hazardous areas.
4.2

Charging the batteries

The charging technology has to be chosen following the recommendations of the battery
manufacturer. Charge the standard batteries in the battery box Type 8316 according to
the I-U characteristic curve.
Charging according to the I-U characteristic curve
Batteries in dryfit technology are sealed VRLA batteries (Valve Regulated Lead Acid).
They are lead-acid batteries in which the electrolyte is fixed in gel. These batteries are
distinguished by maximum operational safety and are maintenance-free.
The I-U characteristic curve is the most suitable characteristic curve for charging dryfit
batteries. The battery is charged at a constant current until reaching the recommended
charging voltage. After that, they keep the voltage constant. The battery limits
the charging current according to the characteristic curve.
Charging units
Use only primary switched charging units for charging.
Recommended charging units:
KG331203, 12 V, 2 AType: G1-312-2-S, with IU characteristic curve, set to 2.3 V/cell,
for batteries of 2 Ah to 10 Ah
KG331204, 12 V, 4 AType: G1-312-4-S, with IU characteristic curve, set to 2.3 V/cell,
for batteries from 25 Ah to 40 Ah
KG331205, 12 V, 5 AType: G1-312-5-S, with IU characteristic curve, set to 2.3 V/cell,
for batteries with 60 Ah
