F Series Operating Instructions
f Before valve assembly and before initial commission-
ing, always actuate the reset valve to switch the DM
valve to its normal position.
In this switching position, the DM valve is ready to run.
8.1
Conducting a function test
Test
1. Solenoid 'a' actuated
Valve ready to run again.
2. Solenoid "b" actuated
Valve ready to run again.
3. Solenoids "a" and "b"
actuated within Δt < 0.1 s
4. Solenoids "a" and "b"
actuated with Δt > 0.1 s
5. After fault, permanent
signal at reset valve – so-
lenoids "a" and "b" or only
"a" or only "b" actuated
Valve ready to run again.
If this function test provides deviating results, see section 5
„Service, Repair and Maintenance".
Each asynchronous movement of the piston elements >
0.1 s leads to the valve switching off. This could happen
for a variety of reasons, such as:
• Defective piston seals,
• Main valve elements experiencing a switching delay
due to dirt or resinous oil,
• Insufficient electrical signals to valve solenoids; suitable
voltage not available,
• Receipt of signals at solenoids not synchronous,
• Pilot valves experiencing a switching delay due to dam-
aged components, dirt, or resinous oil,
• Excessive water build-up in the valve.
9 Dismounting and Removal
Risk of injury due to dismounting whilst pressurised or with
live parts!
Dismounting whilst pressurised or with electrical power
switched on can result in injuries due to sudden pressure
build-up or electric shock.
f De-energise and de-pressurise the relevant system parts
before dismounting the valves.
f Secure the system to prevent it being switched back on again.
10 Technical Data
Design: Two redundant 3/2 directional main valve ele-
ments in seat-valve design, normally closed. Pneumatically
operated. Combined spring and air reset.
Actuation: Solenoid-operated pilot control.
Medium: Compressed air (neutral gases), filtered in acc. with
ISO 8573-1 (class 7 / 40 μm, recommended: class 6 / 5 μm),
oiled or oil-free (mineral oils according to ISO 3448/ISO-VG,
viscosity class 32).
Pressure range: 2 to 8 bar.

CAUTION
Ambient temperature: -10°C to 50°C.
Medium temperature: 4°C to 80°C.
For temperatures below 4°C, the compressed air must be
dried according to ISO 8573-3, class 7.
Shock test (based on DIN EN 60068-2-27):
• Acceleration: 30 g.
• Shock duration: 18 ms.
• Shock waveform: Half-sine.
• Vibration test (based on DIN EN 60068-2-6):
• Frequency: 10 Hz to 55 Hz.
• Amplitude: 0.35 mm ±0.05 mm.
Minimum switching frequency: 1 x per month, to ensure
proper function
Max. switching frequency: 30 Hz measured without
volume. The switching frequency decreases depending on
the volume to be controlled.
Mounting orientation: Any, preferably vertical.
Monitoring: Dynamic, cyclical, internal - with any change
in switching state and in any switching state.
Solenoids: Version as per VDE 0580. Designed for con-
tinuous operation. Electrical connection according to EN
175301-803 form A (previously DIN 43650, form A). Pro-
tection class according to EN 60529 IP 65.
Status indicator unit optional (pressure switch): NO/
NC contacts – 0.1 A, 125/250 V AC; 0.1 A, 30 V DC; 0.3
A, 60 V DC.
Standard voltages: 24 V DC, 110 V 50-60 Hz, 230 V 50-60
Hz, other voltages on request.
Supply Voltage: For CSA/UL compliance, in DC applications
the valve must be connected to a NEC Class 2 power supply.
Voltage tolerance: ±10%.

Sound pressure level [dB(A)]: DM2D = 91, max. pulse
sound pressure level at the loudest measuring point when
exhausting the valve with a corresponding silencer. The
DM2F series is delivered without a silencer. The sound
pressure level is influenced by the individual systems
used for reduction of noise emissions. Use of the product
without a noise silencer is not recommended.
