Outdoor values reception
After the batteries are inserted, the outdoor values of the outdoor sensors will be transmitted
y
to the base station.
y
The base station will scan the outdoor values of the transmitters. The reception symbols of the tempera-
ture-humidity sensor (Fig.1-C7), the wind sensor (Fig.1-E1) and the rain sensor (Fig.1-D1) are flashing.
y
If reception is successful, beeps sound and the outdoor values are permanently displayed.
y
Outdoor temperature and humidity appear on the display (Fig.1-C3+C4).
The rainfall amount (initially 0.0 mm) (Fig.1-D5) and the wind speed (initially 0.0 km/h) (Fig.1-E5) are
y
displayed. To simulate values, move the rocker (Fig.3-E) or the wind wheel (Fig.4-A) (transmission time rain
sensor: 90 seconds, wind sensor: 31 seconds).
If the reception of the outdoor values fails within three minutes, "- -" appears on the display. Check the batter-
y
ies and try it again. Check if there is any source of interference.
You can also start the outdoor transmitters search manually later (e.g. if the transmitter is lost or if
y
the batteries are changed):
y
Press and hold the CHANNEL button (Fig.1-N) for three seconds to search for the temperature-humidity
sensor. Press the TX button (Fig.2-F)button in the transmitter's battery compartment (Fig.2-H).
y
Press and hold the RAIN button (Fig.1-G) for three seconds to search for the rain sensor.
Press and hold the WIND button (Fig.1-H) for three seconds to search for the wind sensor.
y
A beep will sound. The registered transmitter will be cancelled. The reception symbol of the transmitter
y
flashes and the base station will scan the outdoor values.
Reception of the DCF frequency signal
y
After the reception of the outdoor values, the clock will now scan the DCF frequency signal and the DCF
symbol flashes on the display (Fig.1-B1).
y
When the time code is successfully received after 3-10 minutes, the radio-controlled time and the DCF
symbol will be shown steadily on the display.
The DCF reception always takes place at 1:00 and 2:00 o'clock in the morning. If the reception was not
y
successfully received, further attempts will be taken at 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00 o'clock.
You can also activate the DCF reception manually. Press the SET button (Fig.1-M).
y
The DCF reception symbol flashes.
y
There are 3 different reception symbols:
flashing symbol:
y
y
solid:
no symbol:
y
If the clock cannot detect the DCF-signal (e.g. due to interference, transmitting distance, etc.), the time can
y
be set manually.
The clock will then work as a normal quartz clock (see: "Manual settings").
y
Note on radio-controlled time
y
The time is transmitted from an atomic clock near Frankfurt am Main by a DCF-77 (77.5 kHz) frequency
signal with a range of about 1,500 km. Your radio-controlled clock receives the signal, converts it and always
shows the exact time. The adjustment of Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time is also automatic.
During night-time, the atmospheric interference is usually less severe. A single daily reception is adequate to
y
keep the accuracy deviation under 1 second. In extreme cases, please place the unit close to a window to
improve reception.
Operation
y
During the operation, all successful settings will be confirmed by a brief beep tone. Provided that in the
setting mode the button tone is activated (BEEP ON).
y
The device will automatically quit the setting mode if no button is pressed for 10 seconds.
Press the ALERTS button (Fig.1-O) to quit the setting mode.
y
Press and hold the + or - button (Fig.1-K+L) in setting mode for fast mode.
y
Manual settings
Press and hold the SET button (Fig.1-M) for three seconds to enter the setting mode.
y
y
Beep ON (default) flashes on the display. Press the + or - button (Fig.1-K+L) to deactivate (OFF) or activate
again the button tone.
y
Confirm the setting with the SET button.
y
The next adjustable value flashes on the display.
reception is active
reception is successful
no DCF reception

y
Use the + or - button to make the desired setting.
Confirm with the SET button and go to the next setting.
y
The sequence is shown as follows:
y
y
Button tone ON/OFF (default: BEEP ON)
DCF reception ON/OFF (default: DCF ON)
y
y
Time zone -12/+12 (default: 0H)
y
Hour, minute (Fig.1-B2)
Year, month, day (Fig.1-B3)
y
y
Atmospheric pressure setting (default: 1013 hPa) (Fig.1-F2)
Unit of the wind speed (km/h (default), m/s or bft) (Fig.1-E5)
y
Average wind speed (AVG 10, default) or maximum wind speed (TOP 1HR) (Fig.1-E6)
y
y
Prevailing wind direction, optionally as cardinal points (default) or degrees (Fig.1-E4)
Day-of-week language (default: GER) (Fig.1-B3)
y
DCF reception
By default, the DCF reception is activated (DCF ON) and after successful reception of the DCF signal no
y
manual time setting is necessary.
Once the DCF time reception is deactivated (DCF OFF) the clock must be manually set.
y
y
If the DCF reception is activated, the manually set time will be overwritten by the DCF time when the signal is
received successfully.
Time zone setting
In the setting mode you can make the time zone correction
y
y
The time zone correction is needed for countries where the DCF signal can be received but the time zone is
different from the DCF time (e.g. +1=one hour plus).
Atmospheric pressure setting
The relative atmospheric pressure (Fig.1-F2) is referred to the sea level's pressure and has to be adjusted
y
first to your local altitude. Ask for the current atmospheric pressure of your home area (Local weather service,
Internet, optician, calibrated instruments in public buildings and airport).
Day-of-week language setting
In the setting mode you can choose the day-of-the-week language.
y
y
Day-of-the-week language: German (GER), English (ENG), French (FRE), Italian (ITA), Dutch (DUT), Spanish
(SPA), Swedish (SWE) and Czech (CZE).
Temperature and humidity
Trend arrows
y
The trend arrows (Fig.1-A4+C8) indicate whether the values for temperature and humidity of the last 15
minutes are increasing, steady or decreasing.
Temperature/humidity are increasing
Temperature/humidity are steady (change < 0.5°C/2%)
Temperature/humidity are decreasing
Maximum and minimum values
y
Press several times the TEMP button (Fig.1-J) button in normal mode.
You can now see the highest (HI) and lowest values (LO) (Fig.1-A3+C5) ) since the last reset with time and
y
date of recording.
y
The sequence is shown as follows: Indoor temperature (HI/LO), indoor humidity (HI/LO), outdoor temperature
(HI/LO), outdoor humidity (HI/LO).
y
If you have connected more than one temperature-humidity sensor, the highest and lowest values for addition-
al channels appear.
Press the TEMP button once more, to go back to the current values display.
y
y
The device will automatically quit the HI/LO mode if no button is pressed.
Press and hold the - button (Fig.1-L) for 3 seconds while the maximum or minimum values are displayed to
y
clear the recorded readings (display - -).
