Inserting the foot into the footshell:
• Before inserting the foot into the footshell, attach the tube adapter to the prosthetic foot
first. This facilitates the procedure.
• Pull a Spectra sock over the prosthetic foot.
• Insert the prosthetic foot into the footshell using e.g. the 2C100 tool.
Removing the footshell:
• To remove the footshell, insert the 2C100 tool under the heel and carefully pry out the
footshell. Now the foot can be easily removed from the footshell.
4.2 Alignment
4.2.1 Bench alignment
Recommendations on bench alignment (foot with footshell):
Foot size (cm)
22 – 25
26 – 28
29 – 31
4.2.2 Static alignment optimization
• If necessary, the alignment recommendations (TF modular leg prostheses: 646F219*, TT
modular leg prostheses: 646F336*) may be requested from Ottobock.
• Use the L.A.S.A.R. Posture for static alignment optimisation of the prosthesis, if available.
4.2.3 Dynamic alignment optimization
Adapt the prosthetic alignment in the frontal plane (ML) and in the sagittal plane (AP) by
angle adjustments and/or sliding adjustments, in order to ensure correct heel contact, easy
roll-over, and optimal shifting of weight onto the contralateral side. For transtibial amputees
please make sure that there is physiological knee flexion during stance phase.
4.3 Cosmetic foam cover
The Cosmesis Connection Cap 2C10 serves as a detachable connection between the cos-
metic foam cover and the footshell. It snaps into the proximal brim of the footshell.
Please observe the following recommendations:
• Cut the foam cover to length, allowing for distal compression about 0.4 in (10 mm) for
transtibial and about 1.6 in (40 mm) for transfemoral covers.
• Pull the foam cover over the prosthesis, mount the foot and mark the outer contour of the
connection cap which is attached to the footshell.
• Remove the connection cap and clean with 634A58 Isopropyl Alcohol.
• Apply 636N9 Contact Adhesive or 636W17 Synthetic Adhesive to the distal cut surface
of the foam cover and to the connection cap and glue the parts together.
• Finish the outer shape of the foam cover in usual way with the foot installed. Any compres-
sion of the foam cover by cosmetic stockings or SuperSkin needs to be taken into account.
