SAFETY REGULATIONS
Danger when handling the battery charger
This machine has been constructed according to current techno-
logy and complies with the currently applicable safety regulati-
ons. However, failure to observe the respective safety instruc-
tions during operation of the machine
- may endanger the operator or third parties,
- may adversely affect the machine or other property.
All personnel entrusted with the start-up, operation, maintenance
and repair of the battery charger shall
- be sufficiently instructed,
- be acquainted with the handling of battery chargers and batte-
ries
- strictly observe these operating instructions.
Avoid any malfunctions that might impair safety and, if necessa-
ry, eliminate them without delay.
Intended use
- The charger is only suitable for charging rechargeable batte-
ries with liquid or fixed electrolyte in GEL or sealant,
depending on the pre-set characteristic (see section on „cha-
racteristic parameters" in the service manual).
- The charge of dry batteries (primary cells) is prohibited.
Set-up regulations:
- Function-tested .................... - 20 °C to 50 °C
- Component specifications ... Climatic category B
- Atmospheric humidity .......... 5 % to 85 %
The battery charger is tested to protection class IP21 , i.e.:
- Protection against contact with fingers, foreign or similar
objects with Ø > 12,5mm
- Protection against vertically falling water drops
When using this appliance, make sure that
- it is in an upright position
- it is protected from direct insolation and kept dry
- vent holes are kept clear to allow cooling air to flow.
Any other use shall not be in accordance with its intended use.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage resulting
from such improper use.
Modifications to the battery charger
- Any modifications, supplements or reconstruction of the ap-
pliance are subject to the approval of the manufacturer.
- Ensure parts in imperfect conditions are replaced immediate-
ly.
Safety precautions during operation
- The battery charger may only be operated if all safety equip-
ment is in perfect working condition.
- Before switching on the battery charger make sure that no
persons are jeopardized.
- Before disconnecting the charging lines, push [Start/Stop]-key
to interrupt charging process.
- Check battery charger at least once a week for externally
visible damage and deficiencies and make sure safety equip-
ment is in proper working condition.
Risks caused by mains and charging current
- Always be sure to connect charging lines to correct termi-
nals.
- Make sure that the charging cables are fast, undamaged
and insulated. Loose connections or scorched cables must
be replaced without delay.
- Regularly entrust electrical engineering specialist with a PE
check of the mains and appliance leads.
- Prior to opening the battery charger make sure it is current-
less. Discharge charge-storing components.
- This appliance may only be connected to plugs with a
protective conductor (connection to ground). In addition, we
recommend to use an overload protection.
- Mind the supply voltage! The data mentioned on the rating
plate of your battery charger has to be in accordance with
the specifications of your local electricity supply system.
Risks caused by accumulators
- Accumulator acid is caustic. Avoid any contact with the eyes,
the skin or the clothes. Immediately flush acid splashes with
clear water and, if necessary, consult a doctor.
- The electrolytic gas forming during the charge is highly in-
flammable. Keep ignition sources (naked light, lighted cigaret-
te) away from the battery. Also refrain from disconnecting the
charging lines during the charge due to the risk of sparking.
- The charge may only be performed in properly ventilated
rooms that are intended for this use.
- Service the battery according to the instructions given by the
manufacturer and protect it from dirt and mechanical damage.
- During the charge the acid level within the battery rises.
- Store charged batteries in cool places. At a temperature of
approx. +2ºC the running-down rate is lowest.
Maintenance
- Regularly clean casing surface using solvent-free agents.
- This appliance is maintenance-free. In case of malfunctions
contact your supplier (purchasing document or invoice nee-
ded).
Warranty and liability claims
The guarantee and warranty period for the battery charger is 2
years, from the invoice date. However, warranty and liability
claims for injury or damage attributable to any of the following
causes will not be accepted:
- any other than the intended use of the battery charger
- improper mounting or operation
- operation of the battery charger with defective protection gear
- non-observance of the operating instructions
- modifications of the battery charger without approval by the
manufacturer
- foreign objects or an act of God.
CE marking
This battery charger meets the essential requirements of the
Low-Voltage and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directives and,
therefore, is a CE-compliant product. To minimize generation of
electromagnetic fields, route the charging cables such that the
are parallel and as close as possible and reduce the length to the
measure absolutely required.
