In order to avoid radio interference, the dimmer is provided with a
built-in filter. This filter consists of a suppressor coil and a capacitor.
The suppressor coil can hum as a result of magnetostriction of the
core material. This is a normal phenomenon.
- When mounting the dimmer in the immediate vicinity of an hi-fi set,
it is recommended to always use shielded wire for the connection
wires of the loudspeakers. Never put these wires together with the
mains wires into one and the same conduit. Despite the built-in
suppressor coil, it is recommended to keep the distance between
the dimmer and a hi-fi set as large as possible.
- The max. light intensity of a lamp connected to a dimmer will always
be less than the light intensity of a lamp that is directly connected
to the mains.
- Dimmers are never electrically seperated from the mains. All parts,
incl. the lamps, remain live, even if the light is 'out'.
