Operating Manual IK3 Operating Unit with Keypad
2.
General
The IK 3 operating units serve as switching elements for arming/disarming intrusion detection
systems as well as for AC functions in conjunction with an IK3 evaluation unit and the correspon-
ding data carriers. Additional functions (e.g. switching and control functions) that can be activated
via the operating unit keypad can be defined in the programming of the central control unit/
evaluation unit.
Optical and acoustical acknowledgement is possible.
The housing front is replaceable (available in different colours).
3.
IK data carriers
Storage media are referred to as IK data carriers on which authorization data are saved. IK data
carriers are available in different geometrical shapes.

Possible data carriers
The reader in the IK3 operating unit can read all IK2 data carriers used so far.
IK 3 write/read data carriers where data is altered according to a special technique after every read
process can be used for top security requirements.
3.2
Correct application of data carriers
Due to the position of the transmission/reception antenna inside the different Ident data carriers, a
different read position of the data carrier is required to the operating unit. The data carrier should
be held
in front of the keypad - approximately in the middle.

Low current mode
5 sec. after using a data carrier, the reader switches to low current mode. If the data carrier is used
in conjunction with an operating unit in low current mode, it may take up to 1.2 sec. until it starts
operating. Evaluation takes place within 0.9 sec. when the write/read mode is activated.

Influence on the read process by other data
carriers :
In order to prevent several data carriers affecting
the read process, ensure that the desired data
carrier is held separately, if possible in the
reading range .
