Applying the M1131A Sensor
Step
1
The M1131A Sensor is for use on a pediatric or adult fingertip (see page 1).
If possible, choose a finger on an extremity free from arterial catheter, blood
pressure cuff, or intravascular infusion line. Select the most appropriate
finger for the sensor size.
2
Gently open the sensor and guide it over the fin-
gertip, with the sensor cable on top of the finger
and hand:
• The fingertip should touch the end of the wide
section of the sensor.
• You may need to trim the patient's fingernail to
position the sensor correctly.
3
Pull the white backings from the sensor's adhe-
sive tape, then:
• Wrap the tape around both the sensor and
cable (do not stretch the tape).
• Plug the sensor cable into the monitoring instru-
ment's 9-pin female adapter cable connector.
4
Move the sensor application site every four hours, or more often if
circulation or skin integrity is compromised.
5
If the sensor adhesive tape becomes compromised, use any medical grade
tape to reapply the sensor securely around the fingertip.
Reapplying the M1131A Sensor
The sensor may be reapplied to the same patient by repeating the
procedure above. If the adhesive tape supplied with the sensor is
compromised, use any medical grade tape to secure the sensor in place.
