Note:
If, in menu item BASS MODE, the setting CONFIG 1 has
been selected (see page 47) then the subwoofer can not
be selected.
Tuning of the speaker system
In such multi channel systems, the system must be tuned
to the listening position (e.g. sofa) after positioning the
speakers. This is termed »noise focusing the system«.
The basicsetting, once found, must only be changed
when the listening position or the position of the speakers
has been changed.
Note:
To tune all channels, 5.1 CH has to be set in AUDIO
MODE (see section: Speaker system »5.1 CH«).
Switch on the DVD receiver with »POWER« 6. Using
»ADJ/VOL +/-« 5/41, set the volume to a middle value,
about 10-15 dB, (see display unit 10). Take a seat on your
sofa.
After pressing »TEST TONE« 45 the test signal generator
transmits the noise. To the individual speakers in series
for approx. 3-4 seconds per speaker. The procedure can
be observed in display unit 10.

The following abbreviations are used for each of the so-
und channels (speakers).

The volume of the respective speaker is to be set with
»ADJ/VOL +/-« 41 in such a way that the noise level so-
unds the same from the position of the listener.
To stop tuning the speakers, re-press »TEST TONE« 45.
Tuning the speakers individually:
The volume of the speakers can be manually set for each
individual speaker connected to the system. In this proce-
dure, the treble and bass of the front speakers can also
be adjusted to your individual taste.
Which speakers can be selected depends on the set
LISTENING mod (for TUNER and AUX) or from the con-
tents of the CD. (see section »Dolby Surround operation«
page 39).
Switch between the idividual channels by pressing
»SELECT« 12/43.

Adjust the values to your own liking by pressing
»ADJ/VOL+/-« 5/41.
About 2 to 3 seconds after the last entry, the display swit-
ches back. The changes are automatically stored.
Dolby-Surround-operation
By repeatedly pressing »LISTENING« 44 the device swit-
ches through the following functions (LISTENING
MODE):
PRO LOGIC...: corresponds to Dolby Pro Logic
reproduction. This only makes sence if all 5 speakers are
connected..
...NORMAL: (Display::
...PHANROM: (Display:
...WIDE: (Display:
3-STEREO...: sound is reproduced over the front
speakers and the centre box. Dolby-Surround reproduc-
tion is switched off.

both front speakers and the subwoofer.
