4. Fault finding the product

- Before starting any work on the product,
make sure that the power supply has
been switched off and that it cannot be
accidentally switched on.
CIM 260 or CIM 280 fitted in a Grundfos product
Fault (LED status)
1.
Both LEDs (LED1 and LED2)
remain off when the power
supply is connected.
2.
The LED for internal
communication (LED2) is
flashing red.
3.
The LED for internal
communication (LED2) is
permanently red.
4.
LED1 is flashing yellow.
5.
LED1 is pulsating yellow with
single pulse, but the CIM 260
cannot send or receive SMS
messages.

Faults in a CIM 260 or CIM 280 cellular module can
be detected by observing the status of the two
communication LEDs. See the table below and
section 3.2 LEDs.
Possible cause
a)
The CIM module is fitted
incorrectly in the Grundfos
product.
b)
The CIM module is defective.
a)
No internal communication
between the CIM module and
the Grundfos product.
a)
The CIM module does not
support the Grundfos product.
b)
The CIM 280 is not
configured. The product driver
is not downloaded from
Grundfos Remote
Management (GRM) or
Grundfos iSolution Cloud
(GiC) yet. When the CIM 280
is switched on, the LED2 may
turn green for one minute
before it turns permanently
red.
a)
The SIM card has not been
inserted.
b)
The SIM card has not been
inserted correctly.
c)
The PIN code of the SIM card
has not been removed or set
to 4321.
d)
No connection to the cellular
network.
a)
The CIM 260 has not been
initialised.
Remedy
Check that the CIM module is
fitted correctly in the Grundfos
product.
Replace the CIM module.
Check that the CIM module is
fitted correctly in the Grundfos
product.
Contact the nearest Grundfos
company.
Run the set-up process in GRM or
GiC. Contact the nearest Grundfos
company.

• Check the connection to the
antenna.
• Check the cellular coverage of
the area with for instance a
mobile phone.
• Experiment with the position of
the external antenna.
• In some cases, adding an
additional antenna to the
second SMA connector may
improve the signal. See fig. 3.
