Getting to know your telephone
Basic rules of operation
Entering text
Your telephone has its own keypad for entering text (alphabetic keypad, see page
5). You can place one of the three supplied masks over the keypad if the keypad is
not labelled. The mask you use depends on the language which was set when the
system was put into service (refer to page 9). The following table provides an over-
view of the masks assigned to the respective languages:

QWERTY
AZERTY
You can however adapt the assignment of the alphabetic keypad to the respective
mask at any time
with Select alphanumeric keypad in the "Settings/Keys" menu.
Here are some basic rules for entering text:
The letters printed on the bottom of the keys apply by default.
-- The shift key must be held down for capital letters.
-- Special characters are displayed in blue. The ALT key must be held down for
special characters.
-- Country- -specific special characters can be created as follows: First of all, se-
lect the diacritical special character from the middle row of keys. Then enter the
normal letter.
Deleting text with the Clear "key:"
The "Clear" key is used to delete the character above the cursor. The last character
is deleted if the cursor is positioned behind the last character. The most recently
entered characters are deleted one by one (as with a PC) if the "Clear" key is held
down at the same time.
The "Clear" key can also be used to delete entries from lists (e.g. from the call list or
phone book). This is done in the following way: First select the entry and then press
the "Clear" key. The selected entry then starts to flash. The entry is deleted if either
"OK" or "Clear" is pressed again during this flashing period.
