Removing the filament spool
► P. 5, item 11
– Open up the cover (31) of the cord spool with a
screwdriver.
► P. 5, item 12
– Remove the filament spool (32) from the spool
housing.
Replacing the filament in the spool
► P. 5, item 13
– Completely remove the remains of the filament.
– Make a nick in the middle of the new fila-
ment (34), and hook it into the spool as shown.
– Hold the filament spool tight and wind the fila-
ment on in the direction of the arrow until the fil-
aments project by about 20 cm only.

– Thread the ends of the filament into opposite
notches (35).
Inserting the filament spool
► P. 5, item 12
– Thread both filaments into the openings (33) of
the spool housing.
– Push the filament spool into the spool casing.
When doing so, pull the filaments out through
the openings.
– Re-attach the cover of the cord spool and allow
to engage.
Adjusting filaments to the right length
– Push by hand on the underside of the filament
spool and pull out both filaments out until they
are somewhat longer than the edge of the pro-
tective hood.
Next time the machine is used, the filaments are
automatically trimmed to the correct length by the fil-
ament knife.

Storing, transport

Storing
DANGER! Danger of injury! Make sure no
unauthorised persons can gain access to
the machine!
– Let the machine cool off before putting it away.
– If possible, store the machine in the horizontal
position. Make sure no fuel can leak from the
carburettor.
Fault/malfunction
Motor will not start.
– Attach the knife transport guard.
If necessary, remove the shaft tube and hang it up
separately. ► Connect both shaft tubes – p. 43
– Slip on the covering cap to protect the shaft tube
from dirt.
When taken out of operation
For an extended period of disuse, you must remove
the fuel from the machine. This will prevent the motor
from gumming up.
– Drain the fuel tank.
– Start the motor and keep it running until it stops
of its own accord.
– Let the motor cool down completely.
– Remove the spark plug: ► ClОaningήrОplacing
spark plugs – pέ ζθ.
– Pour 5 ml of clean two-stroke motor oil into the
combustion chamber.
– Slowly pull the starter cord several times to coat
the internal components with the oil.
– Re-install the spark plug.
Store the machine in a dry place and far away from
any ignition sources such as furnaces, gas heaters,
etc.
Transport in a motor vehicle
If you are transporting your machine in a motor vehi-
cle:
– Attach the knife transport guard.
– Let the machine cool down.
– Drain the tank
– Secure the machine against slipping.

Malfunctions and troubleshooting

In the event of a malfunction...
Malfunctions are often caused by minor faults. You
can easily remedy most of these yourself. Please
consult the following table before contacting the
vendor. You will save yourself a lot of trouble and
possibly money too.
Cause
Is the tank empty?
Wrong fuel or mixture?
Is ignition switch set to [0]?
Is the ignition cable not attached
tightly?
Is the ignition cable plug dirty?
Throttle not locked?
DANGER! Danger of physical injury and
death! Improperly conducted repairs may
prevent your machine from working safely.
Such repairs will endanger you and your
surroundings.
Remedy
Fill with fuel.
Drain the tank and fill with the cor-
rect mixture.
Turn on the ignition switch.
Push the ignition cable plug on
tightly.
Clean the ignition cable plug.
Press the throttle down to half throt-
tle and lock it in place.
