By now I hope most people understand that the best way to charge a battery is using a 4 step battery charging curve, which cannot be achieved from a standard alternator . There are 3 main battery types, Non sealed lead acid or sealed lead acid, where you can unscrew the lid of the battery and are able to top it up with water, these are by far the best type for fast charging and long life.
