The display shows the symbol
in this way. Now it is not possible any more to
change the adjustments or to mute inputs or out-
puts. It depends on the preadjustment "Show
Parameter" (
chapter 5.6.1) if the adjustments
for the inputs or outputs are visible.

5.6.2.1 Unlocking the unit

To unlock the unit:
1) Press the button UTILITY (6). The display
shows:

2) Press the button ENTER (4).
3) Use the rotary knob PM2 (3) to select
Lock : Off
and confirm with the button
ENTER.
4) To exit the submenu, press the button ESC.

5.6.3 Locking the unit with a password

The unit can be protected against unauthorized
operation with a password. First this password
has to be entered.

5.6.3.1 Entering or changing a password

1) To call the menu, press the button UTILITY
(6).

2) Use the rotary knob NAV/PM1 (2) to select
the menu item

3) Use the rotary knob NAV/ PM1 to select the
User Password
menu item
with the button ENTER. The display shows:

The flashing underscore marks the position
for inserting the first character.
4) Enter the present password:
Use the rotary knob PM2 to change the flash-
ing character. Use the rotary knob NAV/ PM1
to select the position of the next character to
be entered in each case.
Note: When delivered and after the reset of
the unit (
chapter 5.7), the following pass-

this password should be changed in any

5) Press the button ENTER to terminate the
input.
When entering an invalid password, the
following message appears:
Password Wrong!
In this case repeat the input from step 3).

6) If no change of the password is desired, exit
this prompt with the button ESC.
However, to change the password, enter the
new password here and confirm with the but-
ton ENTER. A password may consist of 6
characters as a maximum. It is possible to
enter upper-case letters and lower-case let-
ters from the ASCII character set, numbers
and blanks.

5.6.3.2 Locking the unit

1) Call the menu with the button UTILITY (6).

5.7 Reset of the unit

The unit can be reset to the factory settings.
Then all adjustments made by the user, includ-
ing the memorized configurations, are lost irre-
trievably. To maintain these configurations (Pro-
grams), they have to be saved externally on a
computer (
chapter 6.9.5.5).
1) With the unit switched off, keep the buttons
ENTER (4), ESC (5) and UTILITY (6)
pressed at the same time and switch on the
unit with the POWER switch (13).
2) When the display shows the message

6 Remote Operation
via a Computer
The DSM-240 may be remotely operated via the
supplied computer software. All adjustments can
be made like via the menu of the unit, however,
the presentation is much more clearly arranged.
The filter adjustments can also be made graphi-
cally by mouse and the resulting frequency
responses and phases are shown as curves. In
addition, it is possible to copy adjustments
between the channels, to save configurations on
the computer and to administrate the complete
configuration memory as a project.

6.1 Installing the PC software

System requirements for the installation of the
supplied control programme are a PC with the
operating system Windows XP (SP2) or higher,
a working memory of 256 MB as a minimum,
50 MB free hard disk memory and a USB inter-
face or RS-485 interface. The screen resolution
should be 1024 × 768 pixels as a minimum. For
the installation of the PC software start the instal-
lation programme SETUP.EXE on the supplied
CD and follow the instructions of the installation
programme.

other countries.

6.1.1 Installing the USB driver

A special driver is required for connection via the
USB interface. This driver is available on the
supplied CD. For automatic installation of the
driver call the file SETUP-USB.EXE. The driver
simulates a serial interface for the operating soft-
ware.

6.2 Selecting the interface

To switch over between the RS-485 interface
and the USB connection:
1) Call the menu with the button UTILITY (6).
