Preface to hexadecimal numbers
In the following chapter, a number of examples are used to explain the hexadecimal number system.
The hexadecimal number system is based on numbers from 0-9 and letters from A-F. Note that the
hexadecimals are added for the calculation of checksums.
An useful aid for converting decimal into hexadecimal numbers and adding hexadecimals is
the Microsoft Windows calculator, which should be set to "Scientific" mode.
