Using the Removal Tool

WARNING: RISK OF BURNS
All accessible parts will become very hot during use as well as thereaf-
ter. Use fire-proof oven mitts!

Operating the Gas Barbecue

NOTE: When using for the first time
Before preparing food for the first time:
Allow the gas to burn for 15 minutes on LOW.
The smells from the treated surface are eliminated by the high temper-
ature.

Installation Site

The barbecue is for outdoor use only. During use, always place the barbe-
cue and the gas cylinder on even, stable ground.
• The appliance should be protected from drafts and dripping water (e. g.
rain water).
• Remove combustible materials within a radius of 3 m.
• Make sure there is clearance of at least 1 m around the rear and side
walls of the appliances.
• There should not be any obstructions above the barbecue, because of
the rising heat.
• In order to not obstruct the ventilation, do not cover the barbecue in any
way.

If You Notice the Smell of Gas

1. Close the gas valve on the cylinder.
2. Extinguish naked flames and do not use electrical devices in the
vicinity.
3. Ventilate the area.
4. Look for areas with a bad seal (as previously described).
5. If you can still smell gas, refer to your dealer or gas specialist.

Turning the Gas Barbecue On and Off

1. Turn the adjusting knob to the OFF position.
2. Connect the gas hose to the gas cylinder and the barbecue.
3. Shut off the gas supply on the gas cylinder.
4. Is the system properly sealed? Check the connections for leaks using
soapy water or leak detection spray.
5. Press the adjusting knob and turn it counter-clockwise to LOW.
6. You should be able to hear a CLICK noise. The burner will ignite.
7. Whilst turning the adjustment knob further in the direction HI, check
whether the flame is burning. Otherwise, repeat the process. To return
the adjusting knob to the OFF position, you must press it again and
turn it clockwise.
8. If the burner still does not ignite, wait 5 minutes and repeat from step
5 onwards.
9. If the burner does not ignite electrically, contact your gas dealer for the
ignition to be repaired.
10. Turn the adjustable knob in order to regulate the heat between HI
(800 °C) and LOW (400 °C).
11. In order to switch off the barbecue, close the valve on the gas cylinder.
12. Press the adjusting knob and then turn it to the OFF position.
NOTE:
• The stainless steel surface of the front of the appliance can become
discoloured due to the high temperatures. In addition, splashes of fat
may accumulate.
• Promptly clean the appliance after it has cooled down. This way you
avoid "burning" in of this grease residue.

Tips for Using the Gas Barbecue

Meat Preparation

CAUTION:
• Always season the meat after grilling.
• Do not use marinades. These burn too quickly.
• Do not coat the meat with oil, butter or lard. This would produce too
much smoke.
• The meat is best when it is cooked sous-vide beforehand.
• Meat with a lot of fat is juicier.

Pre-heating

For increased efficiency, heat the barbecue without the grilles for about 5
minutes on the HI position.

Grilling at Higher Temperatures

• Lay the meat on a grille which has not been pre-heated. For even-
ly-distributed crust, lay the meat in the centre.
• Use the removal tool to place the grille in one of the upper slots.
• Only use the upper slots for roasting.
• Your grilled food will have the desired browning on top after 45 seconds
to 1:15 minutes.
• Grilling time per side should not be too long, as the high temperatures
may cause the meat to burn.
• Dark, less reflective meat heats faster than white meat.
• Grilling duration depends on the type, age and thickness of the meat.
• Keep an eye on the meat the whole time to avoid burning.
