Replacing the SML and the SMU

The unit is an assembly which consists of the DC link capacitors, the
capacitor support and the DC link bus module.
♦ Disconnect the electrical connection to the inverter bus module.
♦ Undo the mechanical interlock.
♦ Swing the capacitor battery out towards the front and lift the unit out
towards the top.
♦ Remove the connection for the balancing resistor (cable lug M6).
♦ Detach the mechanical fastening.
♦ Swing the capacitor battery out towards the front and lift the unit at
an angle of 45 ° out of the converter.
The capacitor battery consists of three modules. Each module has a
capacitor support and a DC link bus module.
♦ Withdraw the plug connections.
♦ Detach the mechanical fastening (four screws: two on the left, two
on the right).
Swing the capacitor battery out as far as it will go, slightly raise the unit
and pull it forwards out of the converter.
The capacitor battery weighs up to 15 kg, depending on the converter
output!
SML: Snubber Module Lower
SMU: Snubber Module Upper
♦ Remove the capacitor battery.
♦ Undo the fixing screws (4 x M8, 8 - 10 Nm or 4 x M6, 2.5 - 5 Nm,
1 x M4, max 1.8 Nm).
♦ Remove the modules.
Install the new modules in the reverse sequence.
