DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1 - PLACEMENT OF BATTERIES/CELLS
The Astra Cressi-sub torch is unique, for it can operate on either
standard 1.5 V, alkaline, D size batteries or on rechargeable Ni-
Cd 1.2V cells, for installation in the torch battery pack.
IMPORTANT: For maximum performance, use only and
exclusively rechargeable cells with the following characteristics:
Ni-Cd "ENERGIZER " Cell, mod. EC5000D Hi-Hat-
code 41A04ABI6301 1.2V 5.0Ah
Should cells with lower amperage be employed, torch performan-
ce and burn time will be lower than stated by the manufacturer.
To install the batteries or the cells, unscrew the ring nut from the
torch case, then remove the optical assembly (featuring the lens
cover, the dish, the dish housing, the bulb housing, and the
bulb), while holding the torch case with one hand. With the other
hand push the four teeth arranged outside the optical assembly
lens cover (fig. 1). Be careful that the battery pack inside the tor-
ch does not fall out. Pull the battery pack out of the torch case
and place the batteries/cells inside it, following the polarity sym-
bols on the upper side (fig. 2).
Place the battery pack back into the torch case; be sure that the
notch on the battery pack matches the one inside the case (fig. 3).
IMPORTANT: Before reassembling the torch again, check that
all electrical connections between the batteries (or cells) and cor-
responding battery pack contacts are correct.
IMPORTANT: if you do not plan to use the torch for some
time, take out the batteries from the battery pack: they may relea-
se acid substances that could severely damage the battery pack!
2 - LIGHT BEAM ADJUSTMENT
The light beam of the Astra Cressi- sub torch can be adjusted,
through its focusable beam mechanism inside the optical assembly.
The optical assembly features a cylindrical bulb housing, with
two side teeth (6K-code no. SZ 540021). They are placed in the
corresponding recesses of the optical assembly dish housing,
arranged according to progressively smaller lengths along the
superimposed arrow direction. Every number on the dish hou-
sing (5-code no. SZ 540020) corresponds to a different length,
hence to a different bulb position relatively to the dish (fig. 4).
With this system, the bulb, always placed in a perfectly central
position, will emit a powerful narrow beam without shades, irre-
spective of the type of bulb used.
3 - HALOGEN BULBS
The Astra Cressi-sub torch uses two models of halogen bulbs,
with the following characteristics:
Halogen Xenon 6V-20W (15-code no. SZ 540011) for Astra
rechargeable version with rechargeable cells,
Halogen Xenon 6,5V-0,85A (14- code no. SZ 540010), for
Astra version using standard 1.5V batteries.
These bulbs are unique for their compact proportions and top
performance, ensured by high power generation which activates
the halogen gas, with subsequent maximum light output.
3.1. - BULB REPLACEMENT
ATTENTION: Before replacing the bulb, allow it to cool down
after use. Never touch the bulb with your fingers, nor touch it
until it has cooled down completely, in order to avoid serious
burns. Be careful while replacing the bulb.
