8. Installation
a) General Mounting Instructions
• Select the fitting mounting location for the transmitting device from which the cable sensor
can be laid to the desired measurement location.
Take care also that the cable is not laid over sharp edges, hot surfaces or laid through areas
where it could be kinked or squashed.
• The cable lead is only suited to temperatures from -40°C to +80°C, it should not be used in
aggressive environs (alkalis, acids)!
• The transmitting device can be used in outdoor areas as long as the housing cover is
correctly mounted with seals and the sensor cable insertion hole is appropriately insulated/
sealed (e.g. with hot glue or silicone).
An outside wall mounting must be carried out so that the exit of the sensor cable points
downward.
• The "FS20 UTS" can be screwed into position using the two housing attachment screws
inserted through the two attachment holes in the housing which are accessible when the
housing cover is removed.
• Note when mounting that the "FS20 UTS" is not mounted directly on or near large metal
objects as these will greatly reduce the radio range.
b) Inserting the Batteries
• The "FS20 UTS" requires two type AA/Mignon batteries for operation.
• Remove the housing cover by loosening the four housing screws on the upper side. If the
cover remains a little jammed, this is only due to the rubber seal. If necessary lever the two
housing components gently apart with a flat screwdriver (do not use force!).
• Insert two batteries in the correct polarity into the two battery holders (plus/+ and minus/- are
marked on the circuit board).
You will find a corresponding diagram on the following page in chapter 8 c).
• Leave the housing open for further configuration and only close it when all of the settings/
programming has been carried out.
