Assembly
a) Sensor unit
• The sensor unit is intended for mounting on a vertical wall. The installation height should be
about 1 to 1.5 m.
If the sensor unit is mounted at a greater height (e.g. to make it more difficult for unauthorized
persons to manipulate it), the front must be tilted slightly downward to optimise the detection
range (in this case, the sensor unit may need to be attached in an additional way, e.g. with a
strap or a cable tie).
The horizontal detection angle is
approx. 100°, the vertical detec-
tion angle approx. 45°; see the
graphic to the right.
The lens system of the diffusion
panel does not create a com-
plete coverage of the detection
range, but in practice, this ma-
kes no difference to the function
of the heat detection.
The range for a detection of a heat change depends on different factors; see chapter
"Function of the PIR sensor in the sensor unit".
Do not point the detection range toward air conditioners or heaters; also do not point it
toward lights or toward the sun. Doing so can cause false triggers.
Due to the operating principle applied, it is not possible to detect a heat change through
glass.
• On the back of the sensor unit, you will find an opening at which the sensor unit can be hung on
a screw, nail or hook.
Use a mounting material suited to the surface.
Pay attention when drilling a hole or tightening a screw that no cables or pipes are damaged.
b) Signalling unit
• The signalling unit can be set up on a stable, level surface (vertical or horizontal). Alternatively,
you can mount it on a vertical wall.
• On the back of the signalling unit, you will find two openings (horizontal distance between holes
= 36 mm) at which the signalling unit can be hung on screws, nails or hooks.
Use a mounting material suited to the surface.
Pay attention that no cables or pipes are damaged when drilling holes or tightening screwsI see.
For the wireless range between sensor unit and signalling unit, see the chapter "Range".
Operating the sensor unit
The sensor unit is ready to use within seconds of the insertion of the batteries. If a heat change is
detected in the detection range, the LED on the front flashes red; the sensor unit sends a wireless
signal to the signalling unit.
The sensor unit operates independently of the ambient brightness.
Operating the signalling unit
• Switch the signalling unit on (switch position "ON") or off (switch position "OFF") using the
sliding switch on the side.
• A sliding switch on the other side allows you to select the two volume levels for the built-in
speaker ("HI" = high volume, "LO" = low volume).
• When the sensor unit has detected a heat change in the detection range, it sends a wireless
signal to the signalling unit. If this unit is switched on, it emits an audio signal; the three LEDs on
the front also flash.
Range
The transmission range of the wireless signals between sensor unit and signalling unit is up to
50 m under optimum conditions.
This value, however, is the so-called "open space range" (the range when transmitter
and receiver are in line of sight, without any interference).
In practice, however, there may be walls, room ceilings etc. between the transmitter
and the receiver, which reduce the range accordingly.
Due to the different influences on the radio transmission, no specific range can be gu-
aranteed. However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family house.
Sometimes the range can be considerably reduced due to:
• Walls, reinforced concrete floors, drywall walls with metal frame construction
• Coated/metallised insulated glass
• Proximity to metallic & conductive objects (e.g. heating elements)
• Proximity to human bodies
• Other devices on the same frequency (e.g. wireless headphones, wireless speakers)
• Proximity to electric motors/appliances, transformers, power supplies, computers

Maintenance and cleaning
• Apart from the occasional battery change, the product is maintenance-free for you.
• The outside of the product should only be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions for this could damage the
housing (discolouring) or impair the operation.
Disposal
a) General
Please dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory requi-
rements.
Remove any inserted battery/rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately from
the product.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/recharge-
able batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with
this symbol to indicate that disposal in domestic waste is prohibited. The designations
for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
Used batteries, rechargeable batteries as well as coin cells can be returned to collection points
in your municipality, our stores or wherever batteries/rechargeable batteries/coin cells are sold.
You thereby fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
