2. Prescribed Use

The gas meter sensor "ES-4" is a component of the "Energy Control 3000"
system; it is designed to measure the gas consumption directly on the gas
meter.
It registers contact-free the change of the meter reading on the counter and
sends the recorded data to the main unit of the system, "Energy Control
3000 USB" (data recording and display)
A long-term recording of consumption is possible via the analysis software.
The "ES-4" consists of two parts: The IR scanning sensor which optically
registers the changes in the gas meter counter and the evaluation and
transmission unit. The latter transmits the recorded data in 5 minute
intervals to the display/measuring device, the "Energy Control 3000 USB".
The separation of IR sensor and evaluation and transmission unit has the
advantage that a HF technically advantageous position can be located in
the room for the transmitter.
The recording of the counter reading change is effected with an infrared
reflection sensor. The light-dark difference between the white numbers and
the black clearance is analyzed within the turning of the counter.
At the same time as the identification of a counting impulse and its indication
in the evaluation/transmission unit, an impulse is released one at a time via
a jack socket (voltage level change); this impulse can be used for the
analysis with other applications, e.g. external electronic counters.
To be able to operate several (up to four) registration units in parallel, one
address of the "ES-4" is possible.
Data transmission is effected at 868 MHz bandwidth, the range is up to 100
m, in free field.
The voltage supply of both components is effected with a power supply unit
which is connected to the "ES-4".
