5.4.2 Forward gear and riding without
mowing
When moving the machine:
– d isengage the cutting means;
– b ring the cutting-means assembly to the high-
est position (position «7»);
– p ut the accelerator control between the
«SLOW» and «FAST» positions.
Disengage the parking brake and release the
brake pedal (see 4.31).
Press the drive pedal (see 4.32) in direction «F»
and reach the required speed by progressively
increasing pressure on the pedal and moving
the accelerator.
WARNING!
Drive must be engaged as
described below (see 4.32) to prevent sud-
den engagement from causing tipping up
and loss of control of the vehicle, particu-
larly on slopes.
5.4.3 Braking
First reduce the machine's speed by reducing
the engine's r.p.m., and then press the brake
pedal (see 4.31) to slow down the machine until
it stops.
The machine already slows down considerably
by just releasing the drive pedal.
5.4.4 Reverse
IMPORTANT Reverse must only be engaged
when the machine has stopped.
IMPORTANT To proceed in reverse gear with
the cutting means engaged, it is necessary to
press and hold the consent button (see 4.9) so
as not to cause the engine to stop.
When the machine is stopped, start the reverse
movement by pressing the drive pedal in the
«R» direction (see 4.32).
5.4.5 Grass cutting
Fig. 5.8) Adjust the position of the anti-chipping
wheels (1) whose function is to reduce the risk
of tearing up sections of lawn, which can occur
when the edge of the cutting means assembly
drags over irregular ground.
WARNING!
This should always be per-
formed on all the wheels, positioning them at
the same height WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND
CUTTING MEANS DISENGAGED.
The three different heights of the wheels (1)
allow you to maintain a safe distance «A» be-
tween the cutting means assembly and the
ground.
To change the position, release the stop plate
(2) using a screwdriver and extract the pin (3)
and the spring (4).
Move the wheel (1) to the desired position, then
replace the pin (3), the spring (4) and the stop
plate (2) in the indicated order, making sure the
pin head (3) is facing toward the inside of the
machine.
To start cutting:
– m ove the throttle to «FAST»;
– b ring the cutting-means assembly to the high-
est position;
– e ngage the cutting means (see 4.9) only on
grass lawns; avoid engaging them on stony
ground or when the grass is very high;
– s tart moving forwards on the grass very
slowly and with utmost caution, as already
described;
– regulate the cutting height and speed (see
4.10) considering the conditions of the lawn
(the height, density and dampness of the
grass).
WARNING!
ground, the forward speed must be reduced
to ensure safe conditions (see 1A – C7-8-9).
Whatever the conditions, always reduce the
speed if you notice a drop in engine speed – if
you travel too fast compared to the amount of
grass being cut, you will not be able to mow the
grass well.
Disengage the cutting means and raise the
cutting-means assembly as high as possible
whenever you need to get past an obstacle.
5.4.6 Emptying the grass catcher
(Fig. 5.9)
NOTE The emptying of the grass catcher can
only be done with the cutting means disengaged,
otherwise the engine stops.
Do not let the grass catcher become too full as
this may block the collection channel.
When the grass catcher is full you will hear a
beeping warning sound; at this point:
– d isengage the cutting means (see 4.9) and
the warning sound will stop;
– l ower the engine speed;
– s witch to neutral (N) (see 4.32) and halt the
machine;
– e ngage the parking brake on slopes;
– p ull out the lever (1) and tip up the grass
catcher to empty it;
