System
Up to five handsets can be registered on the base station.
The internationally recognised GAP Standard enables SWITEL handsets,
and even those from other manufacturers, to be integrated in the telephone
system. In the same way, a SWITEL handset can be registered on base
stations from other manufacturers as long as they comply with the GAP
Standard.
8.9.1 Registering handsets
Press the Paging button (14) for 3 seconds to activate the base station's
Registration mode. and register the handset. The currently valid PIN code is
used for registration purposes. The handset is automatically assigned an
internal call number. The internal call number is displayed on the right.
To connect a DC44 handset to a base station from a different manufacturer,
the respective base station must be set to Registration mode. The operating
steps outlined in the operating manual of the external manufacturer must be
adhered to.
To connect a DECT-GAP handset from another manufacturer to a DC44
base station, the operating steps outlined in the operating manual from the
external manufacturer must be adhered to. Press the Paging button (14) for
3 seconds to initiate the DC44 base station's Registration mode.
8.9.2 Deregistrating a handset
It is not possible to complete the deregistration using the handset which is to
be deregistered. A corresponding message is displayed after having
deregistered the handset concerned.
8.9.3 Selecting a base station
Handsets can be registered on up to four different base stations at a time in
order to increase the area in which the handsets can be used. You are free
to use either DC44 base stations or base stations from other manufacturers
as long as they comply with the GAP standard. All base stations require their
own telephone line socket. The base stations can be connected to
telephone line sockets with the same call number and even to connections
with different call numbers.
Select the base station intended for making a call manually using the
handset. Alternatively the handset's settings can be defined to enable
automatic connection to any base stations in reach. For trouble-free
automatic transfer of the handsets to the base stations concerned, the
respective handset must be registered on all base stations in use.
8.9.4 Mobility through different locations
Your handset can be used at different locations. Register the handset on
various base stations at your workplace. If the handset has been registered
on another base station at home, you can use the handset both at work and
at home. Whether at work or at home, activating the Automatic base
station selection function ensures the handset always automatically
connects to the next base station in range.
