B.) Speed Measuring (RPM/FPM)
For safety reasons and in order to extend the service life of the tube, please do not
exceed the following continuous operating times
< 2000 RPM – 2 hrs
2000 to 3600 RPM – 1 hr
3601 to 8000 RPM – 30 minutes
> 8000 RPM – 10 minutes
*10 min. cooling down between periods
1.Set the selection switch "external/internal trigger" (17) to position "INT" (internal).
INT= internal trigger, EXT = external trigger
2. The RPM display LED (1) should be lit. If this is not the case, press the changeover
switch RPM/Hz (18) until the RPM display LED (1) lights up.
3. FAST FINDER button (14)
If you more or less know the rotation speed of the object to be measured, you can
use the FAST FINDER button (14). With this button, you can rapidly and easily select
five pre-set frequencies (100 RPM, 500 RPM, 1000 RPM, 2000 RPM, 5000 RPM).
The flash frequency after turning the device on is set to 100 RPM. With each
press of the button, the frequency increases in the pre-set steps.
4. x2 (22) and 2 (21) buttons
Buttons for easily doubling (22) and halving (21) the flash frequency in order to detect
so-called image frequencies (harmonic content, multiple of the actual rotation
speed). The handling of harmonic content is described in detail in the chapter "Mea-
suring Tips".
5. + button (19) for increasing the flash frequency
By pressing the button "+" once, the flash frequency increases by one position.
When you keep this button depressed, the flash frequency changes constantly. The
longer you keep the "+" button depressed, the faster the flash frequency changes.
6. - button (20) for decreasing the flash frequency
By pressing the button "-" once, the flash frequency decreases by one position.
When you keep this button depressed, the flash frequency changes constantly. The
longer you keep the "-" button depressed, the faster the flash frequency changes.
C.) Measuring the Velocity (Hz)
Operation is the same as described in point B with the exception that you have to
press the RPM/Hz changeover switch (18) after turning the DS-01 on in order to
access the measuring mode "Hz". The Hz display LED (2) is lit for control of the acti-
vated Hz mode.
