7.2 Brew group cleaning and degreasing
Please clean the cold brew group with a damp cloth and a cleaning brush.
Caution!
Never clean the brew group by using a blind filter.
Caution!
Clean the brew group only when cold.
7.3 Prophylactic descaling
To avoid damages due to lime residues, a prophylactic, regular descaling may be
required. If you operate your machine with a direct water connection, contact your
specialised dealer before undertaking this measure. For machines with water tank use,
follow our descaling instructions. Doing so will protect your machine against expensive repairs.
An already calcified machine may only be descaled by your specialised dealer because a partial
disassembling of the boiler and the tubing will be necessary in order to prevent the system from
being blocked by lime residues. A late descaling can cause substantial damage to the machine.
A regular descaling of the machine is recommended to avoid strong calcification and expensive repairs.
While descaling, always take into account the hardness level of the water. It is very important to use a
sparing descaler which does not affect the metal. At your specialised dealer, you can purchase a descaler (in
powder or tablet form) perfectly suited for your machine.
Please proceed as follows:
1
Turn the machine on by placing the metal switch into the upward position. Wait until the machine is
operational.
2
Turn off the machine by placing the metal switch into the lower position.
3
Drain the boiler by opening the hot water valve. Close the valve again.
4
Mix the descaling powder with water according to instructions and fill it into the water tank.
5
Turn on the machine. The boiler is filled with descaling liquid. Please refill the water tank with water.
6
Let the descaling liquid soak for about ½ hr.
7
Turn the machine off and drain the boiler by opening up the hot water valve. Then close the valve again.
We recommend to remove the end piece of the hot water valve before, so no dirt can collect in the hot
water nozzle.
8
Remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it with fresh water.
9
Turn the machine on. This automatically fills fresh water into the boiler.
10 After the machine is heated, turn it off and refill fresh water.
11 Again drain the boiler through the hot water valve.
12 Repeat steps 8. to 12. at least 3 to 5 times, until clear, neutral smelling water comes out of the hot water
valve.
Please release some water through the brew group prior to brewing an espresso after
descaling (flush). This assures that no scale has remained in the brew group.
Important
These descaling instructions are only meant for prophylactic descaling. If you operate your
machine with direct water connection, contact your specialised dealer before undertaking this
measure.
Please do not descale the machine if it is already calcified. While descaling the machine, the
lime residues can plug several components, such as valves, gauges etc., causing damage to
your espresso coffee machine. In this case, please contact your specialised dealer. It is probable
that a professional descaling has to be carried out which requires the disassembling of boilers
and tubing.
Damage to persons or to the material, caused by calcification in and on your machine, is not
subject to the manufacturer's liability.
