9. Attach the battery front panel to the chassis using the attached
screws.

10. Plug your equipment into the appropriate UPS output
receptacles or the PDU receptacles using the equipment power
cords supplied with the UPS.
NOTE If you are using the Load Segment feature, see the Powerware 5140 User's
Guide for more information on controlling and assigning the load segments.
DO NOT protect laser printers with the UPS because of the
exceptionally high power requirements of the heating elements.
11. Turn on the equipment that is connected to the UPS.
12. Switch the main utility breaker on.
The UPS conducts a self-test and enters Standby mode,
indicated by the blinking
13. Press the UPS On button.
The load segments cycle through a startup sequence and the
UPS enters Normal mode.
NOTE The batteries charge to 90% capacity in approximately 4 hours. However, it is
recommended that the batteries charge for 24 hours after installation or long-term
storage.
14. If you installed an optional EBM, access the System Setup menu
and set the amp/hour rating for each EBM.
