General safety information

The operator must read and follow the operating
instructions before starting the motor.
. The motor may only be operated in an upright posi-
tion.
. The voltage specified on the rating plate must match
that provided by the mains/battery.
3. Ensure that the motor is switched off before connect-
ing to the electricity supply.
4. Check the low voltage release if this is required for
a safe operation.
5. Ensure that all connections and fittings are properly
tightened.
6. Do not operate motor without pump tube.
7. The motor must not be left unattended while in opera-
tion.
8. The motor must not be immersed in the liquid being
pumped.
9. The pump motor must remain outside the drum or
container.
0. Repairs may only be carried out by the manufac-
turer.
The classification of flammable liquids is made accord-
ing to directive 67/548/EEC. When pumping flammable
liquids the operational safety regulation and the following
points have to be observed:
. The motor may only be operated with an explosion
proof pump tube.
. In explosion hazard areas only use explosion proof
plugs.
3. Only clean with a damp cloth.
The national accident prevention regulations must be
observed without fail.

1. General

An electric drum and container pump comprises motor
and pump tube to suit the particular application. The
explosion proof motor type ME II may only be used
in explosion hazard areas or for pumping flammable
liquids when operated in combination with a pump tube
approved for category II / G. This applies for the Lutz
pump tube from stainless steel (SS .457) and Hastel-
loy C (HC).
Motors are not approved for use in or on swimming
pools, garden ponds, etc.

1.1 Scope of supply

Check that the consignment is complete as ordered.

2. Motor types

The pump motors are single-phase series-wound motors
with the operating voltages, input ratings and frequencies
specified according to table 1 (see page 14).
The input motor rating and the required voltage and
frequency are specified on the rating plate. Check that
the specified voltage and frequency match the available
mains supply.
Compared to the values measured the main voltage may
vary up to +/- 5 % and the main frequency up to +/-  %
in compliance with section A of IEC 34-.
Vibrations are transmitted to the operator as he holds the
motor in his hand during operation. The upper limbs are
exposed to an acceleration of less than .5 m/s².
