Hygiene is of priority when handling
breast milk and all parts that come
into contact with it. The pump should
therefore only be used in a clean and
sterile condition.
9.1 Intervals
After each use:
• All accessories with the exception of pump
unit 1 and power adapter 15 must be thoroughly
cleaned with water and sterilised immediately
after each use.
• Pump unit 1 must be cleaned after each use to
prevent sticking, especially if the pump has sucked
in any milk.
9.2 Cleaning
1. N.B.! It is essential that the device is unplugged
before cleaning.
2. Remove pump unit 1 from the suction part by
rotating slightly.
3. Unscrew the suction part and with the NUK
First Choice Bottle/NUK Breast Milk Con-
tainer also the connecting element from the
bottle.
4. All accessories with the exception of pump
unit 1 and the mains adapter should be cleaned
and rinsed under running water. Milk residues
may result in the build up of bacteria and may
cause damage to the material.
Important: The components should never be
put in the dishwasher as detergents may
damage the material.
5. Wipe pump unit 1 with a damp cloth. Never
immerse the device in water.
6. Place cleaning tube 11 with the wide opening
over the suction opening of the pump unit.
7. Fill a plastic bowl with warm water and
immerse the tube (Diagram

8. Switch on the pump and let the water flow
through the pump for a minimum of
30 seconds. To do this you may have to briefly
reconnect the power supply.
9. Remove the tube from the water and suck in
air.
10. Switch off the pump.
11. Pull out the cleaning tube.
9.3 Sterilising
You should follow the instructions on cleaning as
specified in Section "9.2 Cleaning", each time
before sterilising.
Important! Pump unit 1 should never be steri-
lised, as this would damage the electrics.
Only the accessories such as bottle 9, connecting
element 8, teat 13, suction part 19, sealing rings 7,
nipple ring 18, screw ring 14 and teat protective
cap 12 may be sterilised.
• Use a NUK Steam Steriliser for this purpose,
observing the relevant operating instructions,
or
• Sterilise the components in boiling water for
at least 5 minutes.
N.B.! On no account should items be sterilised in
the microwave, as this can result in damage to the
material.
Important! Ensure that the accessories have
completely cooled before using again.
