Make sure that the electrical pin-and-socket connec-
tions are installed flood- and moisture-safe. Before start-
ing operation check the cable and the plug against
damages.
The end of the pump power supply cable must not be
submerged in order to prevent water from penetrating
through the cable into the motor.
7. Installation
Pay attention to the maximum depth of immersion
(see pump label).
If the pump is installed in a sump, the sump opening
must be covered with a tread-safe cover after installation.
The operator has to prevent damage through the
flooding of rooms caused by defects of the pump through
the use of appropriate measures (e.g. installation of alarm
units, backup pump or like that).
7.1 Putting-up
As well pits is for 4"(96 mm) pumps at least one pipe with
100 mm inside diameters necessarily. It is advisable to
use with 4"pumps a pit diameter of 150 mm or with 6"-
pumps from 200 mm to since a larger diameter can adjust
the delivery medium better, which avoids an empty suck-
ing of the well.
The discharge pipe can consist PVC endlessly of hot-dip
galvanized threadpipe according to DIN 2440, alterna-
tively of plastic pipe, e.g. hard or Poyaethylen. With more
deeply which is situated Groundwater is to be considered
that the discharge pipe is just set and break-free together,
in order to avoid tilting in the well pit when discharging the
pump.
7.2 Installation
To the pump housing a supporting clamp is fastened and
the pump with the help of a pulley-block is so far dis-
charged, until the clip at the wellborder rests upon. The
first section of the discharge pipe, with a second support-
ing clamp, is installed at the pump flange, which dis-
mounts first supporting clamp. The pump is so far dis-
charged, until the supporting clamp at the wellborder
rests upon. In this way one continues, until desired depth
is achieved. The lead through wiring loom-modify or fas-
tened clips to the pipe. It is to be made certain that the
cable does not scrub at the well wall and is damaged.
The engine may not hang in the mud of the soil sump,
since thereby the heat dissipation is substantially re-
duced. The position of the pump must be selected in such
a way that in the sucking in area no sand chute takes
place. The minimum distance between engine lower sur-
face and well sole may not fall below 0.3 m.
With deepest water level in the well (switching off level)
the discharge of the pump must be still flooded. For
safety reasons the deepest water level should be appro-
priate however for as 2-3 an m as possible over the dis-
charge.
Unlubricated operation leads in shortest time to the de-
struction of pump and motor. In order to exclude this, a
switchgear with unlubricated operation protection (s.
HOMA accessories) should be inserted.
Pumping sand for a longer time destroys the pump, there-
fore an external rinsing of the well pit before start-up
should take place. In very sandy water it is advisable to
wrap a commercial lady stocking around the suction sieve
of the pump.
8. Start Up
Never let the pump run dry for a long time of period,
as it will destroy the pump (danger of overheating).
Start the pump, and open the isolating valves if in-
stalled. Check the position of the float switches. Put the
switch on the control box to the required mode of opera-
tion.
Close slidegate valves up to a gap, that air can escape,
and pump start briefly. After this open the slidegate valve,
until the operating pressure is achieved. If the necessary
hoisting depth is not achieved with engines in three-
phase alternating current execution, the motor possibly
runs with false direction of rotation. For examination dis-
connect the motor from power supply and change 2 arbi-
trary of the 3 phases.

9. Maintenance and Repair

In case of a defect of the pump, a repair shall be
carried out only by the manufacturer or through an au-
thorized workshop. Modifications of the pump must be
confirmed by the manufacturer. Only HOMA spare parts
shall be used.
In accordance with the product liability law we point
out that we shall not be liable for damages caused by our
product due to unauthorized repair by persons other than
the manufacturer or an authorized workshop or due to the
use of spare parts other than original HOMA parts. The
same product liability limitations are valid for accessories.
Before maintenance or repair disconnect the pump
from the power supply to avoid accidental starting of the
pump!
Before maintenance or repair make sure that all rotat-
ing parts stand still!
Before carrying out maintenance and service, the
pump must be thoroughly flushed with clean water. Rinse
the pump parts in clean water after dismanteling.
At pump types with oil chamber an overpressure can
escape with loosening of the oil chamber control screw.
Screw only when pressure balance took place.
Pumps running under normal operation conditions should
be inspected at least once a year. If the pumped liquid is
very muddy or sandy or if the pump is operating continu-
ously, the pump should be inspected every 1.000 operat-
ing hours.
For long and trouble-free operation of the pump, following
points should be checked regularly:
- Nominal current (A): Check with amp-meter.
- Pump parts and impeller: Check for possible wear.
Replace defective parts.
